Didn't know why there were so many people that wanted Haren, but I didn't see how well he turned things around after going on the DL. He still had a few stinkers in there, but as a #4 or better yet our #5, I could definitely get behind that.
Update: Guerrero was held out of the line up again this evening. He has not played since the 12th after injuring his hamstring. Guerrero says he would be playing, but the Dodgers are not letting him until he is fully healthy. Can't say I disagree with their thinking on this one.
Rumor out of Miami is that the Marlins are going hard after Uribe and may be dangling a 3 year deal. Man, that is really hard to believe that anyone would do that after the first 2 years of his most recent 3 year contract were so abysmal.
This is a bad move now, as it was a bad move the first time it was splattered all over the website. He'll have a couple of good weeks, then suck due to injury, or whatever, for ever. Welcome Josh Beckett II. If of course , this happens. Fuck this guy. And now I'm reading the LAD "just don't care" how much they have to spend to get whoever they think they need, and it comes on the heels of the "LAD will temper their spending this off season" reports, posted on here, too. Kemp for Andrus. Puig for Sale...and on and on and on....isn't the idea to make the team better than it was? How about Kershaw for Goldschmidt?
The Dodgers signed Clint Robinson to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training, MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo reported earlier in the week. The 28-year-old first baseman split the 2013 campaign between the Blue Jays' Double-A and Triple-A affiliates, slashing .254/.353/.421 with 13 homers. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/minor-moves-moskos-robinson-socolovich.html __
slashing .254/.353/.421 with 13 homers. Lol, I always love it when a writer uses the term 'slashing' and follows it with piss poor numbers (not that those are that terrible, it just reminded me.) It just seems incongruous to me to use a word that connotes violent action and vigor with numbers that reflect poor and lackluster performance. I can't help it, my mind just works that way.
I too find it difficult to accept when media invent or repurpose words to suit their stories and yet they seem to think this to be cute. Alas the majority of ignorant People reading, WalMart shopping, Americans tend to like this... or are too dense to notice... or care...
Haran was serviceable as a #3 for the Angels but wouldn't be a candidate for us at anything higher than a #5. Better than Capuano we agree but perhaps no better than Bills or Beckett if either of them ever heal
agreed... little to no faith in choad to do anything competently... except get under Diablo's skin...
Things are moving so slow thanks to the hold up with the NPB. A bunch of teams and players are waiting for the Tanaka chip to fall before making their moves.
Bills as #4 is a lock. TJs are pretty standard now. Beckett is the question mark. Haren as a #5 is a great move.
