  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

not that disappointed, or, check that... surprised
deal was always more likely to fall apart than to go through imo
and when the media went apeshit yesterday at the asg it only increased those odds imo

Unfortunately DeGrom would cost a ton more in prospects.

Absolutely. So I was assuming that hard evidence was the killer here...but now, Idk.
I would be curious to know, however, if those previous holdups ( the poor med report ones) were substantiated by a third party or what?
Nobody else looked at these things?
Seems awfully lackadaisical when there are multi million dollar contracts involved, imo.

A's agreed to a deal, found out dudes were damaged but did not call off deal.
Because they have a GM that has word.
Orioles have a GM whose owner will always make him look like someone who has no word.
That is because he uses the medical clearance to put a pause at the end of a deal after he has already agreed to the deal in order to allow other teams to try to sneak in a better offer.
Its bad business because people don't want to trade with you and when they do they will give you a fair share of dickweed prospects.

One thing that would make this whole ordeal even more insane is if the O's really do pull out due to a complimentary piece(which may not be a bigger spect after all) when the main piece was the talk of the weekend. There have been multiple prospect folks that came away from the Futures Game believing that Diaz was one of the most impressive prospects in the game and has legit star potential. Losing a superstar like Machado is never easy to sell to your fans, but being able to turn around and say, "but, hey this is the kid we got back, look what he did just 3 days ago in the MiLB all star game!" It is much easier for fans to digest when it is a recent storyline.

Like other unwritten things in BB I guess GM's don't out their counterparts over stuff like this, otherwise no one would ever call the O's for anyone and F/A's wouldn't sign out of fear they wouldn't get to leave if they ever become disheartened.

    MiLB update
Verdugo: Not in lineup, but word is that he is certainly not in a Machado deal. Played both games of DH yesterday
Dustin May: Is still set to start in Rancho tonight. If it is his medicals holding up the deal, no chance he starts.

Reality is, everyone that gets this high in this game has Medical’s that can look bad. Also, these guys play daily so there is no way to keep tabs on this shit. Guys who are saying the FO is responsible for trading damaged goods are just flat out idiots looking for a raeason to bash the FO.

Lastly, the reason Medical’s are done is to make sure you aren’t getting fleeced so if true then the O’s are just doing their job and using the information gathered during the final stage of a deal-which they should.
What I would like to see is the pics given to a 3rd party doc and it to come out that nothing is there and the Orioles exposed for this because as I thought we all knew from following baseball , this shit is par for the course with the O’s.

On the flip side we did this a couple years ago with a pitcher we were rumored to be a FA signed but didn’t pass Medical’s so we cut up the deal.

Agree the docs need to justify their salaries too
Possibly at the behest of a certain owner

Right and if he’s actually the player then how shitty is this for him not really understanding wtf is going on with Him. Clearly he’s good enough to pitch right?

That shit gets in ones head. Also how fucked up can he be? He just cut up an entire lineup for 12 Ks last outing.

The O's pick out things that nobody else brings up. The medical report is usually from before ST so those docs could be outdated and it may require more recent testing.

    From Bowden
#Dodgers#Orioles should be able to officially complete Manny Machado trade this evening. 5 prospects led by Yusniel Diaz will head to #Orioles. Medicals no longer an issue according to a source involved in the transaction.
