Was just about to say that the Cubbies are pretty silent thus far on Giancarlo and he'd probably be cool with calling Wrigley/CHI home..after LA, of course, and maybe NY.
That Heyward contract though..Lorenzo Cain probably has dreams about that Heyward contract

They don't support their teams, it's often humid and there is that Hurricane thing plus the whole sinking into the ocean thing. :D

Miami is a pretty sleazy place but I think I’d rather live somewhere holed up in a penthouse with eternal beach access than in Milwaukee or Cleveland drowning in hayseeds staring at storm clouds my whole life

Adrian Gonzalez to play Winter Ball with Charros de Jalisco of Mexican Pacific League
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 2 hours ago

Adrian Gonzalez battled nagging injuries from the outset of Spring Training, and it made for a long year. While he seemingly managed to overcome the elbow trouble, the veteran first baseman was forced to the disabled list in May for the first time in his career.

Gonzalez returned from the bulging discs in his back nearly two weeks later, but soon after again found himself on the DL due to the same injury. The Los Angeles Dodgers pressed ahead without him, buoyed by Cody Bellinger’s rapid rise.

Gonzalez’s second stint on the disabled list was much more prolonged, as he was not activated until August. By that time he’d lost the starting job at first base to Bellinger.

With a handful of games remaining in the regular season, the Dodgers made a decision to shut Gonzalez down, which would allow him to focus on 2018. The 35-year-old said he planned to adjust his offseason workout program, putting an emphasis on stabilizing his balky back.

As translated from LasMayores.com, Gonzalez also plans to play winter baseball with the Charros de Jalisco:

"A source confirmed to Mexican newspaper Excelsior that Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez will report with the Charros de Jalisco in December."

Gonzalez made his debut in Mexican Pacific League in 2005, and has regularly participated in international play for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic and qualifiers.

He’s coming off a season in which he appeared in just 71 games, his lowest total since becoming an everyday player in 2006. Gonzalez hit .242/.287/.355 with 17 doubles, three home runs and 30 RBI.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman recently said he expected Gonzalez to benefit from time in the offseason that will allow for him to get healthy without the pressure of returning to the field. Friedman also said he anticipates Gonzalez being with the club next season.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'd do if I were having back issues..continue playing in the off-season.
Where are those smugglers that brought Puig to Mexico when you need them?
Who am I kidding, they wouldn't want Adrian either

Taylor is versatile and can play 2B, SS, and LF, so it’s not exactly that. Just that Cain is like 32 years old and not who this FO would likely target

    • Evaluators around MLB who believe the Marlins need a “reality check” with regards to their asking price for the slugger, Buster Olney of ESPN writes. With $295MM left on his contract and an opt-out clause after 2020 on his deal, Stanton lacks surplus value, per Olney, which jibes with a Morosi report from earlier this week. One executive told Olney that the Marlins are “not going to find teams willing to give up both the money and the prospects, and that’s why [they’ll] probably have to choose: They can either take the talent and eat some of the money, or they’ll have to prioritize the [money] savings.”

Cubs should not take a deal they dont like and go into the season as is.
Then at the deadline these same teams will gladly take Stanton and his money on and give up prospects.
But by then the teams also have a better idea if adding Stanton will put them where they want to be.
