so i came home early and tossed the ball around w my akitas and it turned into a death fight
happened so fast all i could do was grab necks and scream while riding them to the front door
playing medic and cleaning up blood
i should have known better but these girls loved each other
fortunately i can separate them from now on
that battle seriously kicked my ass

they love each other but the younger one has been trying to cut off her sisters interactions w me
so the tension was trending up but this was just instantaneous combustion of the worst kind
i don't know if i am physically capable of splitting them up again damn

i fell asleep and woke up w the one w the worst injuries
strangest kind of bonding after taking care of their wounds
surprisingly i think i only have one bite to my hand
they will never be together again so the chances of it happening again are slim
absolutely love the akita breed but seeing them tear each other up was definitely eye opening
used to raise dobermans and those had a couple of epic skirmishes
remember my dad and my brother holding the back ends of two females in the air and a 2x4 not being able to separate them
have only the adrenaline to credit getting these two apart i just wasn't going to watch one die

That's pretty damn emotional along with the physical aspects of it all.
Glad you were able to stop it before it became fatal to either. Hope you are OK.
I've been around dogs for many years now, broken up a few fights, but nothing like you described. Could never be without them...I know you are the same.
I love them all dearly...but we should always remember, that behind those beautiful brown eyes (or whatever color), somewhere... is a wolf.

Sounds like an 'alpha' quest so you're best off keeping them apart.

    Otherwise pick one

We had Bullmastiffs when I was a kid and I too had to break up a really bad fight, while they were eating....took a really bad bite to the hand as well. I think she realized what she had done bc she immediately stopped fighting and backed way off.

I’m not a dog expert, but I have heard certain breeds are not good together if they are the same sex. I’ve heard this about Huskies and Malamutes, but again, just hearsay. I’m also sure their are exceptions too.

my life force is completely diminished
i still haven't recovered from it and both animals are so needy atm
i have bruises all over my legs and arms and i don't even know how that happened
i just know its my fault and i need to be a better owner
    poor dogs
i feel like i was arrogant about understanding them
i belong to an akita page and was warned about this happening
as someone said they are wolves

Not the most skilled of trainers or owners or animal behaviorist can know exactly what all canines are thinking all the time. And their DNA dictates that they react in lightening quick speed, necessary in the pack environment.
How can you know a game will turn into a bloody battle?
If humans can act like they do towards each other at times, brutally and cruel, and have been doing so generation after generation, how can we expect any better from dogs ?

Dogs behave better than humans 99% of the time
Shoot I ALWAYS treat dogs better than certain humans (political hacks on either side, solicitors, door to door Mormons)
That said there are a few breeds with aggressive traits that don't truly get domesticated.
I personally just don't see the value in Rottweilers or Pit Bulls
Akita's are also known to be high strung
Try a non-barking Bouvier, large enough, silent sentries but still kind to kids
Unlike that brood of wolves you currently secure the domecile with
At least that giant old Rott wolf is now gone. I don't care how many times I saw him he was a scary MF even behind the chainlink

Dogs are not better than humans 99% of the time.
Remember that you probably only ever meet the elect of dogs. Those selected to be part of someone's household and then pampered and even sent to school for politically correct training when they just want something or someone to poop on.
There are people that treat animals better than they treat some humans. Like you said that you do but I really don't want to believe you.
Because if you as a human treat an animal better than you would a fellow human then you are correct when you say that some animals behave better than humans. Only because you are setting yourself up as the example of the type of human who is not better than a dog.
Which is why I said that I don't believe you actually hold those words you said in your heart.
There is nothing inherently wrong with a pitbull.
You have a bias towards certain types of dogs and against others.
Same as you do with certain types of humans.

Dogs are like people who always look down or away but rarely if ever look to the heavens except when a shiny object appears brightly in the darkness of night. Which is what the original philosophy at the temple of the dog is. Cynicism. To be 'like the dog'.
