Duh, if you DFA him his spot opens up.

 

OK, so how can you " duh " me when DFA'ing him was how this conversation started? that's what i was saying all along.

 

Because you are saying do it NOW. You gain nothing by DFA'ing him now and have nothing to lose by doing it later. It's going to cost $9 million either way so why not wait till spring and see if he has anything. If he doesn't then ...c'ya. But if he does, not only do you get return on your $9 million, you prevent another team from picking him up for pennies and using him against you.

It's timing that is at issue. No matter how much he sucks, how much you hate him, ...he's still getting $9 million, so why not wait it out?

 

yes, that's because IMO they should sign a veteran for Wilson's supposed role in the pen and get the new direction going ASAP. i know you don't think Wilson is gonna accept a lesser role in a contract year. eventually he's gonna want to be set free anyway so he can try to prove he's capable of getting high-leverage money after next season. i'm saying DFA him and get the bum out of the way now and skip past all the theatrics. he's not the guy for the role he's getting paid for and wants..there are guys that are gonna be available on the market that are much better than he is. give Wilson a big " peace out " and turn over the role to a guaranteed fix.
