yeh, it's all good. it's just another reason to keep all of them. but you'd DH Crawford? he's a pretty good glove and covers a lot of ground out there
well we know Puig is an everyday guy and management will probably want the same for Kemp, but rest every now and then won't hurt Kemp. but it's basically Ethier and Crawford, and Crawford is our top of the order guy. if we don't have him up there we really don't have anything resembling a leadoff guy except maybe Puig as far as the egos go...we're talking CC and Ethier mainly...both are well paid. regardless of playing time. they're complaints will be measured because they're bankrollin big dollars. especially if the team is winning. neither one wants to be labeled " that guy " in a happy locker room. the both of them are aging, so they can help one another out in the long run if they added the cuban Guerrero, maybe they'd look to deal CC and put Guerrero in the leadoff spot. maybe. still, why not keep them all and then become even more dangerous come World Series time in AL parks? that's a hell of an advantage. i say let Donnie do his Torre-thing and manage these egos until they become unmanageable
better to do something too soon than too late this season isn't a problem next year could be if all are healthy
Ethier's arm is a lil iffy at times, but it is better than CC's. my thing is this...if they're in a small yard like Fenway's...how do you proceed? Ethier wouldn't have to cover more ground, but at the same time there's not an extra-long distance to make tosses + you have to account for Kemp's shaky defense as well...that's where i think CC would help out Kemp a lil more in coming up on balls. it's tough, but i can see your side too. the only think i'm sure about is Puig is gonna be out there. lol
ethier's arm is waaaaaay better than carl's carl is actually kind of a liability in the field imo kemp isn't so much a bad outfielder, but he makes poor decisions and often takes bad routes
" too soon " could also mean being a bat short in a bid for a WS appearance next year too though. that would be sad. the chemistry thing is interesting because that dymanic hasn't really been fully exposed yet since Kemp has been out forever. who knows how Crawford would feel, but he's gotta be happy to be out of Boston. that's for sure. but what about the competition dynamic? guys having to stay on top of their game or else Mattingly would be forced to go with the hot guy. we might squeeze out a 100-win season if guys are competing like crazy out there
List of our OF, in order of awesomeness 1A. Matt Kemp 1B. Yasiel Puig 3. Ethier 4. Carl Crawford The crazy thing is that CC would likely be #2 on most teams and, IMO, he's 4 of 4 here. Bo$$
I hadn't even checked when I made my comment, but Crawford has the higher UZR of all Dodger OFers this season
they don't have to like it fuck 'em damned prima donnas if you want to play then have one of the top three BA's. Period. The line forms behind Puig. Kemp, Ethier, CC and whoever need to earn their keep daily. And since that has not happened yet this year we're good with 4 OF's and SVS chipping away at whoever dips under .280... as he should. It's Ethier or Kemp's problem and if they can't out hit SVS then they can rest and get some pine time
I wish every Dodger road game was nationally televised so that we would have to listen to Collins. In all seriousness, listening to Collins ruins the game for me a bit.
that's what i'm saying. other than his arm, there's nothing to complain about when talking about Crawford in the field. he gets it done. if i had to DH a guy it'd be out of Kemp and Ethier. Kemp has the better arm, but how often is his throw on target anyway? i almost feel better with Ethier in center. but i know Crawford can cover some of Kemp's mistakes
I'm having trouble comprehending people wanting to trade Kemp before Ethier. Is it the amount of return being higher? The payroll difference? Performance? Injury risk? There's no reason for me to want to keep Ethier over Kemp. None. I've pretty much seen all I want to see of skinny Andre. He's quickly becoming the next coming of James Loney for me.
Trading Kemp would be gay. And I call him a fag all the time If he's healthy he's a monster. Ethier is a washed up POS
I disagree. He looks like a headless chicken out there sometimes. Ethier is probably the better fielder. Please, don't rape me with advanced stats. Just saying what my eyes see.
Of course it's based on the return. Ethier has practically no value right now between his contract and how he's performing this season. Kemp, if you cover part of the contract gets you a good return. And I think Ethier is going to rebound in 2014, so it'd be selling low IMO. Kemp on the other hand I'm worried to death about when he hits the wrong side of 30.
