It was written in a reaction to this deal by a writer and I was merely restating it. DS is well known as a "pitchers" park but we will have to see if he can be a success here. Either way low risk.
Whether you were wrong or quoting someone who is wrong, it's wrong. The guy gives up 25-30 jacks a year and is no stranger to pitchers parks.
haren update... MONDAY: Upon reaching 180 innings, a player option will vest on Haren's contract, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Haren's deal also contains incentives for games started and innings pitched that kick in at the 24-start and 150-inning mark, Heyman adds. He can earn up to $3MM worth of incentives (Twitter links). __
Yes he will give up HRs, but so did Lilly and Capuano. But DS is far a better pitchers park than all those 3 you mentioned. Also is Petco. I will shit on my pants when he goes to Coors, but its part of the package.
A good signing imo. With him vesting at 180 innings, the only way he reaches that total is if he pitches well for us. Secondly, his numbers in the 2nd half of the season for Washington were good
Dan Haren doesn't expect to compete for spot by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com -- November 26, 2013 8:53 am Dodgers pitcher Dan Haren does not expect to compete for a spot in the team's rotation, according to the Orange County Register. That shouldn't come as a surprise, as Haren signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the club. But with both Josh Beckett and Chad Billingsley expected to be back from injuries, it should make the Dodgers back-end of the rotation interesting. Billingsley underwent Tommy John surgery in April, and Beckett had shoulder surgery in July. With the Haren signing, it appears the team isn't counting on either pitcher to start the season. Haren said general manager Ned Colletti told him he was brought in to pitch, not to worry about when other players were coming back from surgery. __
^What am I missing here? It sounds like Haren is a lock in the fourth slot, and Bills and Becket duke it out for the fifth spot: an all out crutches fight.
a lot depends on whether we're able to sign tanaka still, that #5 spot should be yours regardless... for now but if -- come july/aug/sept -- you're tired/struggling and if choad and/or josh perform well out of the pen... yeah, well... kersh/zack/ryu/(maybe)tanaka... tell you what, dan... why don't you make this (decision) easy on all of us and just pitch lights out __
Haha yeah, he had a great end stretch in 2012 for us but I mean he's only going to get worse with all of his injuries. It reminds me of Ted Lilly kinda. Lilly was great that year we traded for him, then injuries and reality hit and he really sucked I have little faith in. Beckett and I think th front office does to, or else they wouldn't have signed Haren and still be looking for another starter
We can definitely add a max salary player, but that's gonna be over 40 million to the cap for two players. I don't know how hard the cap is, but if we want to contend, we'll be paying the luxury tax. I just hope we keep Jordan Hill. We still need role players to help those two out.
They would need to go sign and trade with Carmelo, unless he goes Dwight on them and leaves money on the table...
