Man, here's KC with the crappiest SP of any of the playoff teams and quite possibly on of the worst skippers in the league, and they look like they are eating the Bluejays alive. Makes me jealous of whatever it is they got
Last night , I heard ( Darling, I believe), " the Mets problem is that their starters throw harder than their bullpen". Some problem. Like having too many gorgeous girlfriends...what to do? Amazing how in the off season with the big FO clean house and with the spending frenzy, the LAD were the bullies on the MLB block...and so highly praised at the trading deadline pitcher acquisitions. Lol. And now, again, the little pup with it's tail between it's legs, whimpering in the corner. Doghouse. I guess maybe CY award, the K leader and, uh...that's about it. I guess that will have to suffice. While teams like the Mets look better and better, and are still going after what is so far away from us. Fuck...why can't we be as good as...holy shit...the Mets? You mean the skipper that is 17-7 in post season play...that skipper?
Wow...I notice I haven't seen Bautista doing any faggotty show-up bat flips in this series against the Royals...guess he's not so inclined right about now.
Yeah that one. Yost is on par with Donnie. But he has an incredible team that makes up for it. Like anything, it's not a black and white thing. A super team can overcome bad managing or no managing. Good managing can make an average team very good (see Giants over the years). If you got a bad manager and a so-so team....that gets you bounced out of the 1st round.
Didn't you write that KC has the crappiest SP of any of the playoff teams, but now Yost has an incredible team behind him, which covers up his ineptitiude...or whatever in your reply. Sorry, but makes no sense to me. If you have the crappiest SP out there, and you've got your team where KC is, again, mind you, you're not on par with Don Mattinghly, not in this lifetime anyway. By your own definition, he's more like Bochy than Donnie...
A big contingent of players that came up together in their core meaning trust. Where we hope to be in 2 or 3 years.
From down 6-2 in the 8th inning and 2-1 to the Astros in the series to up 3-1 in the ALCS...impressive.
Having a crappy SP rotation but having a team that puts up run after run after run, and a solid BP is a great team. Not every facet of a team has to be perfect to make it a great team. That is what a non-black and white dichotomy is about. You're taking an awfully simplistic approach to the definition. And yes, Yost is NOT a good manager.
We actually didn't. Toronto had the most HRs. We were 4th the MJ pre all star beak with 113. After the break, we hit only 74....I think that was 13th. Besides what I'm saying is that the Guggs are giving indications that (a) they won't go after a big FA SP and (b) no power bat shore up our hitting with someone that can get their in the clutch. We're going with the youth movement it seems, and that worries me. The power bats are getting older. Joc looks lost. Puig has no power.....some say he never did, although I dispute that. Ethier may be gone. This is morphing into a small ball team.
Non black and white dichotomy? A simplistic approach? Yeah...well, being a simple minded person, what other approach can I take? I guess then, the FO who put together the great offense, great BP, but crappy starters is really the brains here then, other than Yost down on the field. Or is that too simplistic?
With this last failure...and what awaits and is on the table ( or more correctly, OFF the table) in the upcoming months, the Dodgers will be watching once again next year, even earlier than they usually are when the season is done. The Law of Averages dictates that you don't get forever in the post season to go out and get the prize. We've had quite a few shots, and fucked them all up. Every one. Somebody else gets the shots now...
Weird. All of the people (that I've seen) in the crowd are white. Chicago might have some racial unrest going on.
