Dylan Hernandez @dylanohernandez 14m14 minutes ago Friedman and Zaidi blabbering nonsense. Offering no clues why Mattingly is no longer the manager. Sorry, but from other tweets I've seen, this wasn't really mutual, Mattingly wanted out.
lol nightentroll a cubs exec, huh? okay i'll play... why exactly would a cubs exec know/say that? and thanks for not elaborating idiot Bob Nightengale Verified account @BNightengale Don Mattingly will discuss his #Dodgers departure at 3 PT today. One #Cubs executive said Monday that Mattingly was resigning 12:43 PM - 22 Oct 2015 · Details
I mean these guys still have to make a managerial hire, so they won't be going into detail or hanging DBB out to dry. If they did throw DBB under the bus it'd be a black mark on the position going forward and there would be no real trust. So Plaschke and his media cohorts may as well hang it up..they're getting nothin from the horse's mouth. " Sources " away...
And I assume DBB will follow suit because what FO exec is gonna trust him if he goes silly in a public forum
" What are his weaknesses as a manager? " " It doesn't do anybody any good to get into that. We all have weaknesses. " Stiff arm.
At least Mattingly was a great ballplayer, and Torre good...Kapler doesn't even have that going for him.
It breaks down into two categories for me: Safe vs. high risk, high reward Safe choices are Bud Black, Tim Wallach, and Ron Roenicke. Three guys who have done some time, seem even keel, aren't gonna ruin your franchise but aren't really anything new High risk, high reward is Kapler, Dave Martinez, Cora, McGwire? Out of the box. These guys don't have managerial experience (well here and there in the minors I guess), basically haven't gotten serious consideration for a managers job, but come with intrigue since it's unknown and maybe they take your team above and beyond It's hard for me to rate any of these guys though
Plaschke - " I had a recorder in the room and heard everything you guys said! " Friedman - " Hey...wasn't me. "
WALLACH: "Do you want him out of here?" ETHIER: "You know I do." WALLACH: "Okay then, here's what you need to do..." ETHIER: "I'm all ears..." WALLACH: "Yell at him in the dugout on National TV and he'll resign..." ETHIER: "How do you know that will do it?" WALLACH: "Because I have seen it." ETHIER: "Wow, that's some Star Wars shit right there." WALLACH: "Yup... I'm Obi-Wan and you're Luke." ETHIER: "Okay, then who's Donnie?" WALLACH: "Man, I don't fucken know. Probably Jar Jar Binks, or some other insignificant/hated character."
Interesting...if DBB wanted out, regardless, and the extension shit was true, what does it say about the FO as it is now? While we all make fun of Mattingly, is it possible that the joke is on us as fans after all is said and done? Wow...the path to failure is so multifaceted and so many roads yet to be travelled. I'm sure we will exhaust all of them... Do you have other reasons why you feel that way...that you can get into, Chief?
Im happy And anyone who thinks they offered him an extension and he turned it down... He's under contract for another year have him come back and grab the guys sunflower seeds Sure hope the new guy has some fire in his belly
