what? how do you get close to a deal without sending anything back? all of the report is posted above. anything more than that would be based on assumptions.

i'll tell you who i hope was involved..is that good enough?

DJ Peterson. 49th ranked prospect in MLB ( by MLB.com) 3rd baseman with big power/hitting/arm grades that match Seager's. he's their #2 prospect. 22yr old kid that's knocking on the door.

after that and if not him..i don't even care. just get a couple youngsters in areas of need.

West Notes: Kemp, Cabrera, Kendrick, Upton
By Edward Creech and Zach Links [December 7, 2014 at 5:31pm CST]
With the Winter Meetings beginning in San Diego, this could be the week the Dodgers finally deal from their glut of outfielders, writes Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. The Dodgers would prefer to hang onto Kemp, according to Shaikin, but Major League players are not being offered for either Andre Ethier or Carl Crawford.
Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports the Mariners were close to a deal for Kemp with Seattle paying roughly half of the $107 million remaining on his salary over the next five years, but things fell apart when the Dodgers insisted on the inclusion of either Taijuan Walker or James Paxton. In a second article, Dutton lists the Padres and the Orioles as the Mariners’ primary competition for Kemp, with Shaikin adding the Giants are a possibility, if they fail to sign Chase Headley. With Nelson Cruz now in Seattle, Dutton opines the Mariners’ interest in Kemp will depend on what other offers the Dodgers receive. Those other offers may not be to the Dodgers’ liking, as Shaikin notes the Braves (Justin Upton and Evan Gattis), Red Sox (Yoenis Cespedes and Allen Craig), and Phillies (Marlon Byrd) also have right-handed power bats available to trade.
    Elsewhere in baseball’s West divisions:
    • Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman says the constant rumors that come with running a major market team are “comical,” but he doesn’t necessarily mind it, writes Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. “Misinformation can be a powerful tool,” Friedman said.
    • The Mariners are reluctant to part with their young pitching to acquire an outfield bat, according to Dutton. “That’s a little bit of a dangerous road,” said GM Jack Zduriencik. “You look at our pitching staff, and when you analyze it, a couple of those young starters didn’t pitch a lot of innings last year.
    • Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets the Mariners are very serious about their pursuit of Melky Cabrera. Last week, it was reported the M’s are believed to be willing to offer something similar to the four-year, $57MM deal that they used to sign Cruz.

Dodgers were sending 50M with Kemp? Lol you must ask for a young stud starter if that's the case.

Seattle would have paid half of Kemp's salary in the deal.

Jon Lester is getting on my nerves!!! I know speculation means nothing but wasn't he going to sign by the weekend? Then I read he's not going to decide until AFTER the meetings and now I am watching mlb network and they say expect something in the next couple of days!! :cursing:

I think Seattle realized they weren't dealing with Ned so they killed the deal.

It'll be pretty sad if the Dodgers get more interest in Andre then CC and if they can't trade CC.

If they can't trade CC at this point, he's stuck forever and that's sad

    Motherfucking Ned. Motherfucker

CC in a platoon with SVS is fine and we got Adrian in that trade too remember, wasn't going to be made unless it included CC.

Cubs resigning Hammel. Means they are out on Lester or Scherzer?

I'm saying motherfucker Ned for just the whole shit. Revisionist history of course but a GM should be better at predicting the future a bit, and the fact is he's left them two complete shit contracts in Andre and CC.

Yeah, CC and SVS in LF isn't bad, but when Joc is ready CC is stuck here forever if they really can't find someone that wants CC this offseason after his best months of play in a long while. I would be surprised to find someone want Ethier and not wait to see Ethier play a bit to see a small bounce back

Just hope this gets settled soon and it doesn't hurt

no CC, no AGon. Doughty's right..you can give me SVS/CC and i'll make due with them so long as i get AGon. when Joc is ready, trade the bitch Kemp who bitches about LF anyway.

it's not just Joc's promotion and CC's contract that's pushing Kemp out..Ned also got Puig signed and Puig shot off like a rocket ship. it is what it is. Ned's obviously made some dumb moves, but we wouldn't be shit without the AGon trade. i'm moreso mad about the League contract and it's effect on our bullpen. the outfield is strong regardless.

So if Kemp hits say 35-40 HRs next year and drives in 120, which he is perfectly capable of, are you going to want to trade him and call him a bitch then?

if he does all that while bitching about his position in the outfield, yes. in fact, it'll be the absolute perfect time to trade him. he's not 25 or even 27yrs old anymore.

however, you know what they say about " if " scenarios..we should be so lucky. much more likely that he tops out at 25HR/90RBI with 150Ks..close to what you'd expect from a CC/SVS platoon.

So far, alot of coulda, woulda, shoulda on just about everyone. And being outbid on the two thay really went after, Martin and Murphy.
So something would be nice... landing a big SO would make everything pretty much OK in the off season, with the only other hole looming at catcher, IMO.
Out of all of them, the remote possibility of Zimmerman is what/who I like best, but how could the Nats let him go?
I wonder how a guy like Kemp feels reading everyday on this and that reportage source, everywhere, that your team is trying (almost desparately) to trade you. Gotta be disheartening, but after a while, maybe you say, "yeah-can't wait 'till it happens".

NO...it would make the Killing Fields of Cambodia look like a vacation spot 19 times a year. And really, isn't he worth more than Grandal?
LA has made some of the absolute worst trades in BB history...this might loom as close to that level eventually. And hurt us even more tactically.

the return that they get for him is far more important than his destination IMO. If he goes to SD..well, the Dodgers plan to be good so we kick his ass every year and he never makes the playoffs again. The guy is 30yrs old..he won't be an impact guy for long anyway. SD will be lucky if they get 3 good years out of him. Grandal's a start..rakes at Dodger Stadium, still young, switch hitter..can hold catcher down until Leon is ready and then he can move to 1B.
