I would venture to guess that these Dodger hitters take more pitches and work more counts than any of the previous 10 years. Now I don't have statistics to back this up but it's been my perception.
Unless he's in the starting lineup, the effect the guy has is minimal. It's on the players to execute. The position is overstated.
Unfortunately tonight was a good example of what I was saying. These players look exactly the same as the last few seasons. -Swing away at shit pitches and watch strike 3 go by. -Get a good pitch to hit and lift the leg and take a huge softball HR swing a miss. -Work the count 2-0 and then flail away at pitches that are not good to hit. Same shit, different year and hitting coach. There's been about 4 or 5 coaches in the last few years....same results. I know they aren't coached to do this shit, they just do it. The players, not the manager or coaches are the problem or solution.
The Mcguire effect is not working. 1-124 with RISP over 34 innings or something like that. FIRE him, Don, Falsone, Wallach, ...everyone except Honeycutt.
