I'm all for this!! Should already be a holiday bkitches!!! Fuck yeah!! :moshpit: http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2014/2/...working-to-make-opening-day-a-federal-holiday
I'm actually all for this. The national pastime gets a national holiday? Sounds good to me. Not that I would get the day off... But my wife would enjoy another day off, and having banks and post offices closed is always fun.
I don't think they are talking about that opening day. But still, half the teams start on Monday March 31st while the other half starts Tuesday April 1st. And then there's us who play on Sunday March 30th.
and therein lies the problem there should be one -- and only one -- opening day, and all 30 teams should play if this is truly our national pastime, then fuck opening in another country i fucken hate selig you want to do a pathetic self-serving goodwill tour, fine put together 2 teams of nl/al all stars and send them there to play a series... in the offseason did i mention i hate selig? :ranting:
You inspired a thought within me. What if the All-Star game became an international event? We already don't care about it here. Get rid of that stupid home field advantage rule, expand the rosters significantly, play the games after the World Series. Let cities around the world bid to host a 3 game All-Star series. International fans get to see the best in the world play. Regardless of the outcome, all three games are played. We get less All-Star snubs. This is essentially what irish is suggesting, I'm just elaborating on it. Obviously there is a lot more to work out but the idea is solid and just needs some tuning.
Preach it, my brutha... Can I get, I say can I get, an Amen??? Damn straight, and keep the 3 day break for the players,...all of them. I'm in favor, the problem is going to be making the players accept the results of the votes, and agreeing to the travel.
Just have it regional. Have the Dodgers, Angels, A's, Giants, and Padres open up on the same day and California schools are closed (for example)
