Hanley is neither the glove or quality person Jeter is. Hanley personality alone would br a NY letdown. Girardi coached Hanley years ago and I suspect has an opinion and may feel he can make it work. Not sure Yankees want to give up salary and draft pick to find out
if it means he gets 75M ( probably 60M more than the Dodgers will offer), he'll do it. not sure that they won't either. going cheap after committing so much money last year? that'd be a bad sign to Yankee fans..especially when their farm sucks. a lot of pressure to get the post-Jeter era off to a good start..i'm sure at some point they'll have spent enough to just muscle their way back into the playoffs. they almost have to come away with one of the top starters this winter..Sabathia's done and Kuroda's probably retiring as well.
these things happen and we won't miss Hanley at all: Puig improves Kemp continues his comeback Dee duplicates this past season AGon..steady as he goes keep CC healthy with a couple days off every week old man Uribe..steady as he goes upgrade catcher/sign Russ Martin add a 4th top end starter..maybe Lester or Scherzer bench continues to be elite with SVS getting more ABs/Turner/Ethier/Guerrero/Ellis we'll be just fine. at the very least Arruba should be the glove they think he can be.
