I have a hard time believing this team can win the division. My quote earlier in the year was, "We will win this division. It will be a horrible ride. But we'll win it". That is gone for me. The Giants beat shitty teams. They play shitty teams the rest of the way. We have blown SO MANY huge opportunities. We screwed ourselves. The schedule don't lie. I was very discouraged to see SF just won AGAIN. As usual against bad teams. We don't control our own destiny, and this team is too inconsistent regardless. I'm holding out all hope I can. I wanna be in the playoffs. But SF just gets it done when they're supposed to. No doubt. Pitching has to overachieve and overcome Kershaw has to get a win every single remaining start Kemp has to become close to what he was in April The rest of the offense has to contribute as well The team needs to play .700 ball at least We have kick the Giants' asses ourselves.
Who cares about Frisco? All we need to do is start winning and it will take care of itself. Whether we pass up the Giants or get in the Wild Card game. As long as we keep winning, we can't be denied of one of those two possibilities. I mean shit, the Cardinals are getting their asses kicked by the Pirates the last two days. We're 1.5 out of the Wild Card and proved that beating ATL isn't that hard. Just fucking win.
It might not all "take care of itself". We indeed have to worry about Frisco. And STL. And ATL. If they keep winning, we don't gain ground. It's the harsh reality. If we don't have a 9-1 run in us at some point, or win every series going forward, we're in trouble. There is no more room for .500 baseball. Need to win 7 out of every 10 games. Not .500 ball, Which is basically what we've played since April.
We need Kershaw to take advantage of off days and keep on the 5 day pace. A lot has to go right. I'm hopeful. But there is reality here. Kevin K was pretty adamant as well about .700 baseball at least. We just avoided a 4 game losing streak against 2 last place teams, play below .500 against our division, and cannot seem to beat the fags. Gotta beat down SF. Like 5-6 games status. THey are going to beat all those bottom feeders. If we win this thing, it will taste a little better than any previous year. A lot of adversity.
I'm so sad about Chad. We need him in this stretch run, this team is so much better with him. Funny that the most argued about player in terms of value to this team goes down and it is a dagger, really... Why cant it be Harang? Why does Jansen have to go down, why not Wright? Shit sucks. Kemp, Bills, Lilly, down. Damn, fucking rough. Sad posts, sad day for me IRL so nothing can bring me up, i really expect chad out til 2013 if then and jansen done as well. He was so fucking good before that second elbow injury, ugh.
Teams that win the wild card generally have a pretty good showing in the postseason....8 teams in the last 10 years that made the world series were wild card teams. A much as I want to win the division too, a wild card is still a postseason birth. I'm just sayin.... Edit: not to mention Arizona is playing shittier baseball than we are right now.
We are gonna fuck these bitches up! Four game sweep and we outscore them by at least 12 in the series. Ship it.
We have a chance to do damage like IBB said in either race as long as we win because 1) We play SF 6 more times 2) We play STL 4 more times So, yes, IF WE WIN, we are in a good spot. But that's a big IF. What has this team shown us with going on big runs or playing consistent baseball? Not much. Have to go out and win like IBB said. But these are not easy teams to beat. CINCI and WSH on the road as well. Although lately the road is our savior.
Obviously the pitching situation scares me but I trust the offense will get it going. That lineup is too potent not to. If my memory serves me correct we normally handle cincy like we do Pittsburgh and Washington will most likely be without Strasburg so that's a plus as well. Our schedule is much tougher but that's a good test for this team going in to the stretch run. Rather play playoff contenders than a bunch of teams with nothing to play for. Those are the teams that are most dangerous in sept.
Misty May is a fucken badass now if only our offense had the same fire/passion... 14h Misty May-Treanor @MistyMayTreanor I just saw....Tomorrow i am gonna miss Vin Scully Bobblehead Night & his 1st pitch. Not if I can help it! Flying in from NY. #dodgers
The good news about it is we have 2 more series with the Giants. We take both and we're in good shape, I think.
I'm admittedly nervous, but like IBB said, we win, take care of our schedule, and we're in. 31 games left, 89 wins probably does it, so you have to win 19 of those 31.
