I think that is 252k after all he does have 2 HR's so far.

Nice to see him respond to the critics like he did.

Good for Matty. My harms warms for him. Nice guy to respond as such.

Now if someone can get him to give a shit while swinging the bat we'd be all set.

Maybe he's really trying to get it together, but obviously hasn't and figures in his mind, if a HR is going to help less fortunate, God will reward them and himself and get him going? god should do that.

    good for Matt....http://www.truebluela.com/2013/5/22/4356056/matt-kemp-donation-oklahoma-tornadoes

Matt Kemp made news Monday night not only with his home run, his second home run of the season to snap a drought of 97 plate appearances, but also by pledging to donate to help those affected by the devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma this week. Now, Kemp has pledged even more.
Kemp on Monday said he would donate $1,000 per home run he hits between now and the All-Star break, but on Wednesday the Midwest City, Oklahoma native also said he would give $250,000 as well. Kemp released a statement, per former big leaguer and current ESPN announcer Chris Singleton:
    "Dear Families of OKC,
On Monday, out of concern and emotion I committed $1,000.00 for every home run I hit until the All-Star Break. It was a quick and small gesture in advance of what I knew would be my greater contribution through your rebuilding process. I am keeping my pledge and in addition, donating $250,000.00. May God bless you through this and the many generous donations coming to your aid." -Matt Kemp #PrayforOklahoma

lmao he could hit 99 home runs and he'd still pay less than six digits
it's nice of him to donate, but of course he's going to get mocked for this

MLB players and the league could realistically make a pool of donations and fundraisers and probably rebuild all of those houses. It's Oklahoma...probably costs like 100 bucks per house.

IMO, what Kemp did when he promised and bragged like a 12 year old kid about a 50/50 year back when, is just asking for what is going on with him right now. You could feel the karma waiting in the shadows for him. The great equalizer.
No matter how he handles it, whether you are pro or con Kemp, whether he gives tornado victims a share or not, or the jersey off his back to fans in LA, he is killing this team and is just poor in aspects of the game. He said he wanted to be the focal player, the "franchise". He succeeded in getting that. And everything that comes with it, good and bad. I think he is a good guy that invited this...his own created pressure, and no pop singers to blame it on this time.
He should give the fans that pay his salary and to see him play something back, so a jersey off his back is cool once in a while.
They certainly aren't getting a 3/4 hole hitter, that's for sure.

Was outta town and didn't watch a single Kemp AB this weekend, and didn't vomit once. Coincidence? You decide.

    God he's shit.

To be fair, after he predicted that, he hit .470 with 13 HRS or some shit in April. Got hurt and then got more hurt.

We had an MVP in our hands. We've lost him.

Only if the fans determined to drive him out of town have their way. It worked for the Crawford and AGon haters in Boston and the Hanley haters in Miami. High expectations and injuries don't go well.

Aghhh yes the path of Dodger farm players falling out of favor with Dodger fans and finding home elsewhere. Will it be repeated again with Kemp? The nice part for me is that I still remain fans of the players after they leave so yes I find great enjoyment in the success Loney is having this year and that Brox has had. I am happy Russ Martin is being recognized as a good back stop who like so many other top quality catchers isn't being asked to hit 280 and slug 25 homerooms. So if you want to love your hate, enjoy it and I am loving following former Dodgers and being happy for the kids who I cheered for before and still do now. Not sure about others but I find my path more relaxing and peaceful. PS, I was sorta clueless about the Dodger adventures while in Aruba being without much in the way of internet or forum and article chatter. I guess that says something about the value of OUR background noise in the big picture of life which is there for the enjoyment of it all.

Yes, he did, and it was wonderful. But it's not about fairness...it's about most pitchers have no problem with him now...where's the fear?
Braggadoccio mostly always comes back and haunts the shit out of a player when he does predict those kinda numbers for himself like he did...that's the point. No one ever doubted that he could have done it, and certainly could have/would have been an MVP, since it was stolen from him already once before. But it didn't happen, and now he's only average, or actually below, maybe. The potntial is still there of course, but when announcers are saying things about 'he's older now and it's not the same for matt as it was", something is definitely wrong, big time. Older?
And he used Rhianna's seduction as an excuse for not being focused...now it's the shoulder, which you have to believe. I guess.
But .265 with 2 HRs and not a whole lotta RBIs is monumentally disappointing right now, and he should be aware of just how bad it all is....in all aspects.

. I find the comments of AGon interesting on the subject since he went through the same thing in Boston.

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodge...p-outburst-20130525,0,5800530.story?track=rss

Much of this could have been avoided if DBB had started him out lower in the lineup until he was able to work his way back up to form. His starting out slow was fully predictable and normal. It is normal that other teams have trainers and surgeons and know the muscle mechanics of coming back from any type of surgery and no what batter can and can't do and how to pitch so they have to use the mechanics that are slow to come back and are thus vulnerable. It is the same as fielding with your range of motion being impaired. AGon said earlier in the week his power is gone and he will not hit 40 homers again and that is what shoulder surgery does for you. So don't expect Kemp to hit 40 homers in his career. He can become lighter and faster and become more like Carl Crawford and come closer to stealing 40 bases as opposed to hitting 40 dingers. If Dodger fans remain fixated on a 40 homer slugger than they need to tell management to get rid of Crawford, Kemp, AGon, Hanley and Dre as it ain't going to come from them. Look how long it took AGon and hopefully Hanley. A year and another team because it took a year. The real concern is that the current behavior of some in the press and some Dodger fans might be reminding AGon, Hanley and CC from where they came and their love for the Dodger fan base become more like their previous love life. Players and agents don't miss what is going on and has gone on and ownership may really need top dollar payroll to attract top free agents. Other than Zach how many on our roster who are considered players in their prime came to us voluntarily and were not acquired in trade or via our farm system? Hmmmmmm and we had to probably overpayed Greinke to get him and he admitted he came because of the money. That might be the real story being written now and it isn't a pretty future if that is the case.
