I have a feeling that there is not going to be any scoring when it comes to this series... I wouldn't be surprised if all games stay in the 2-1 range
What's the story on Martinez? I know he throws gas and has been better out of the pen, but does he still fatigue easily? I remember the Dodgers faced him last year and he was gased by the 5th inning and then have up a bomb to AJ Ellis.
I have been really trying to watch this kid. Martinez fastball runs 95 to 100 with ease, Two-Seamer 90 to 96, slider 85 to 88, circle change ???..... Lefties were really giving him fits but without him throwing that change up they were waiting on that fastball. There are a lot of scouts out there that say he has a pretty good change up he just didn't have to throw it bc he was in the pen. Plus why would he start with him still being in the pen. His last start in the pen he started and with some more work like he has done it could be a good pitch for him. The Cardinals have been stretching him out with these past two outings. What I hear is that he is going to have 100 pitches this time out so he should be stretched out good now. Martinez is staring to slow down his pace bc he still has that mentailty of being in the pen. I think if he slows down and doesn't think about striking out everyone he should be able to go at least 7.
I do have that kind of faith in this kid. I might be a little hyped up about him finally cracking the rotation but man this kid could really be special if just given the chance..
