so the coaching staff wanting to keep Randle and Lopez more fodder for the brilliant reign of trag, what was Jeannie thinking? he's going to make the Knicks and isiah look positively mensa in his approach
I think the article is simplifying the issue too much. Randle would have blown cap space for a max deal this coming off season. And Randle’s agent also represented PG13, so Randle wasn’t going to give LA any breaks. So the question was do you risk your ability to sign another big name free agent for a young player that has potential. That decision would have been difficult for any GM and FO. The end result is we don’t know if that was a bad decision until FA is ironed out this off season. I’m not sure Lopez would have been a difference maker this year either.
Puke knows the writing on the wall and is letting it be known hes not just gonna accept being the fall guy. Good for him leaking this story. I'm sure more will come out right before and right after he is let go. would it have made a difference? who knows. But the fact is magic man put together a shit roster to compliment "the king" that's fact. every one of his moves have been shit.
Look I'm a Lakers fan until final breath I'm just seeing that we threw away an opportunity of today to be 'ready' for a deal tomorrow... or next week month year couple of years whatever We had a max spot go unused while we miss the playoffs... with Mebron So we're stupid or cheapskates... or both??
Yeah except actually we do know right now that there's 0.00000001% chance we're not out of the playoffs while sitting on a max deal in our pocket AND losing Randall for the season We lost both. For 2018/2019 season. That's an "L". OK maybe next year or three some other spoiled 'megastar' will deign to grace us with his shallow presence for a year .. or two Until the next thug rap video comes out and Miami is hot again or whatever Lakers have a toxic clubhouse culture and its heliocentric on MeBron Listen to Zupic talk about Clippers teamwork consistency v. Lakers abysmal efforts while trying to cater to someone who doesn't play D Squabbles all fall to Tragic to solve.. with a smile Some can play, some can coach, some can manage ... Magic has already failed at coaching
More reasons why it's fake news. Not the least bit interested in Luke and his staff's excuses..they're all bad and don't deserve to be coaching the Los Angeles Lakers. Maybe Shaw..maybe. But he was a bum elsewhere, so no.
If its Luke leaking this stuff, it'd be a clear indicator that he knows it's going to be tough-sledding for him finding his next opportunity to be a HC because you don't do this if you plan on leading another team any time soon. Again, if it's Luke that's leaking here, he's gone up against an org that has basically built his entire pro basketball existence, and thrown players under the bus. So there you go.
It is fishy how the narrative of this story is Luke tried his best to stave off this disaster but Magic and team screwed up. There is a lot of blame to go around, but this first year was nothing but a place holder for bigger and better things in year 2. Luke knew he was dead in the water the day LA signed Lebron. His constant tweaking of the lineup and weird substitutions was his way of saying that he was in control and he was clever enough to mix and match and come up with genius decisions. But it backfired. He just alienated and confused everyone, the young and the old. I wanted the Luke experiment to work, but I also thought any ideas of coaching prowess was a false premise based on having what may have been one of the best teams put together in a very long time. And even then, Luke burned out that team to the point they had nothing left by the Finals. Not a coincidence GS lost the championship that year.
Luke has lost this team: for whatever reason, they don't even try for him. Maybe he doesn't hold them accountable, maybe they don't respect him. Whatever. I don't care what else is going on, that's the reason he should be fired.
i think that's simplifying it just a bit the goat has a habit of having this happen wherever he goes i agree at this point there's not much left to do but move on but's its pretty hard to keep a teams attn when the lead bkitch is whining like a woman and grabbing the wheel puke did have the team playing pretty damn well for a quick minute there it might not be for us but i think he's going to get other chances although maybe not in the pros sucks for him
Lopez is a difference maker on the best team in the NBA. A team with a superstar dynamic PF who has outside shooting as his main flaw. A PF built like a freak but skilled enough to kick it out to a big man who can shoot. Just like LeBron has had all his career and what Giannis had been missing. Randle is currently a FA because he could not get that big cap space eating deal. Magic did not want him. If Magic wanted him he would have tried a little to sign him on the cheap the way NO did. Now that we know this info the question marks about how Randle ended up in NO for so cheap start to make sense. Magic should go to Randle and say... Julius, I fucked up. Come back home.
we will see how many times we hear magic say if he doesnt get it done this year, then he will step down. They kept Luke here. With Bron approaching 35 years old at the end of his career, why wait if you knew he wasn't the guy. And dont give me that jeanie buss shit. Mid season fire maybe, but not at the end of last year. If pelinka and magic had a vision and direction then Luke would have been gone. You dont waste a year with a coach that wasn't even gonna be there anyway. Magic prob liked it anyway and flexed his muscle to get Puke to do things. Bet most of those shitty rotations were magics ideas.
Magic wants to get the Lakers back to having prime time players. LeBron wants to come to Hollywood and make movies and music and all sorts of things. It is not ultimately about LeBron and AD together. Looking forward Magic and Clutch sports could have made a win win deal. Lakers have always been known for drafting a once in a generation guard by hook or by crook and stealing/trading the premiere big man of that generation. The Lakers do not win by collecting a bunch of talented young players and going forward making them stars hoping one becomes a superstar. No. They trade for a superstar and they finagle one out of the draft. Zion may be about to come alongside AD with Lonzo, Ingram, and Kuzma... that is a hell of a lineup in LeBrons waning years. Then wait for it... the superstar guard that joins the Lakers is delivered to us by Lebron himself when he decides not to retire in 4 years. Instead he signs a 1 year contract to play his last season alongside his son LeBron Jr coming fresh outta high school. PG: Lonzo, Mini Bron SG: Ingram, Mini Bron SF: Kuzma, LBJ PF: AD, LBJ C : Zion, LBJ
Luke is basically David Blatt. Allowed to have the HC job when expectations are low, is many levels below a Lue and a Spoelstra. Not even 100% sure that Luke is better than Coby Karl. His stupid rotations were on display before LeBron even landed, and he also knew he was dead before LeBron as well. When leadership changes at the top, they eventually look to fully shape the rest of org to their liking..no different than Friedman landing and eventually making his own hire for manager. Low expectations for this season meant Luke could put another year on his resume for some other org to judge his ability and that's it. Time's up at season's end. Gotta gtfo just like his playing career..he eventually had to gtfo and hand his minutes/spot over to Ariza and Artest for the Lakers to get back to the top. Historically, if Luke Walton is holding a pivotal role, Lakers are mediocre and not good enough.
Luke may suck but Lue is definitely not the answer. Hiring Lue as coach is the same as naming LeBron coach.
Not at all. Lue actually has a reputation beyond LeBron. And the same goes for Spoelstra, who'll be seen as a " LeBron guy " by some, but in reality is just a damn good coach. However, as for Lue, it doesn't sound like he's their top target. The guy they're going to stay away from is Mark Jackson because he's literally a LeBron guy, a Klutch Sports client. That's your no-go
