Terrible trade and we didn't make the playoffs and traded him for crap. http://www.truebluela.com/2010/9/18/1696595/dodgers-trade-octavio-dotel-to
I'm sick of this board shitting on Ned when clearly he did what he did by not sending our top prospects. If you want to shit on his career for us as a GM you can make an arguement prior to this year but he did what he could. If Dempster had even a one bad inning with us there would be venom all over this thread for Ned. BOTTOM LINE our farm is DEVOID of top tier, can't miss talent and close to the majors. I am happy with what we did, shit all over me now I really cannot care less. Go Dodgers.
Anyways, pissed that the SP so coveted by Ned wasn't acquired. Simple as that. Happy we got Hanley and Victorino Happy we got Choate. League...alright.
Huh? I think League was grabbed because Lindblom was being traded...you asked about League compared to Lindblom, I responded...what am I missing here?
So for the stretch run: Kershaw Billingsly Capuano Lilly Harang Not too bad...just like having a better one-two punch.
the way Bills has pitched lately, who knows. maybe his minor injury was really holding him back and pushing him back a few days allowed him to get healthy
Weeks ago and til the deadline everyone was saying why waste time on a pitcher we need two hitters more than anything. We got two hitters, and now ppl are mad at lack of SP. Dempster would have been nice, no doubt, but not at the price of Webster. Webster may not pan out but his value is much higher than 2 months of Dempster. Our rotation isn't amazing but it's good enough. Up to this point, our pitchers have had top of the NL ERA. A solid deadline, and a solid team with no big risk in the future.
Yes. Loney and Rivera will still be at first base. And Capuano is still our #2. There was too much work to do.
Carpenter, Garcia, Jackson and Lohse were all better than whoever you perceive as the #2 on this team.
Exactly... and again, I dont see Dempster as a real upgrade over Lilly... and Harang hasnt been as bad as he looked last night... they do need to push RDR to start, even if its only 5 innings per game...
I'm not sold on bills, just like Loney...shows flashes of brilliance...maybe even for a month or two and then something bad triggers a long term slump. I hope Bills pitches great...but I just can't be confident.
+1. If Bills pitches like we know he can consistently, this is a whole new ball game. But until he does it, he can't be trusted.
