I wonder if letting Kolarek and Floro go allows for Santana and White to step up?

Yeah, the more I look at it, this looks like some option plays. Looks like we also got the Marlins 2020 5th Round pick as well.

Ok i just looked at the 40 man roster and without Kolarek and Floro that bullpen is overcrowded.

    Jansen
    Alexander
    Ferguson
    Gonsolin
    Gonzales
    Graterol
    Kahnle
    Kelly
    Knebel
    May
    Treinen

This is a make or break year for Santana. If the control is still not there, he will be gone. White will be interesting, he supposedly looked great at the Alt site and they are leaning towards moving him back to a starting role. We have a TON of pitching on the way that could set up a dominant staff.

Kahnle and Ferguson are out for the year, but Vesia will be on the 40 man.

well Ferguson is going on the 60 day DL and also Kahnle but yeah, it’s a crowded bullpen and so you need some MLB ready guys in the minors. Floro/Kolarek were gonna be eating up valuable spots

also Kyle Hurt the dude they got for Floro looks like he might be useful

Thats crazy....even with those 2 on the DL that leaves a bullie of Jansen/Gonsolin/Gonzales/Graterol/Kelly/May/Treinan. On the outside lookin in is Knebel/Alexander/Santana/White.

Crazy to think we had that many WITH Kolarek and Floro.

More about Kyle Hurt who was a part of the Marlins highly thought of draft class from 2020. Another big righthander with overpowering stuff. I think we have a type.

    From MiLB.com

Hurt was a bit of a polarizing prospect heading into the Draft because the raw stuff has been there, but his time at USC was marred by control issues (107 walks over 172 2/3 innings) that led to a 5.06 ERA.

He has a four-pitch mix consisting of a high-90s fastball, changeup, slider and curveball. When Marlins scouts saw Hurt pitch this season, they couldn’t believe his potential, equating his stuff to that of a first-rounder. That made the pick that much easier.
“At that point, the hitters that we really wanted were off the board. And I was just staring down the barrel at Kyle Hurt,” Svihlik said. “And I'm like, I'm taking the big body. I'm staying with theme of big body, big stuff, what we know. Brandon Woodruff was way down the Draft board because of his inconsistencies years ago at Mississippi State and he's turned out all right. So ... that was the general idea there.”

Kahnle and Ferguson are headed to the 60 day DL on February 17th. Gonsolin and May probably start in OKC as starters. It's not that crowded. Jansen, Knebel, Gonzalez, Treinen, Kelly, and Graterol are the only locks

I actually hope Jansen is out. I think that ship has sailed, and we need to move on.

Maybe we can get a trade for prospects, I dunno. I don’t trust the guy or his attitude anymore.

no way you'll get anything in return
$20m for 2021... no one is going to want to absorb that for (essentially) a middle reliever

Yeah, at this point it is probably better to just hold on to him the rest of the year instead of paying someone to take him on by tossing a prospect their way. I'm over this fucking dude, but it looks like we are stuck with him, Kelly and Pollock for at least another year.

Wouldn't be as much of an issue if Roberts sets expectations in ST that Jansen is a middle reliever. But I don't see that happening... will take some blown saves with Davey tiptoing around the issue before he makes that move.

Superficially, I agree with you...but real fans like we are, are aware of how many times he's failed in key situations and broken our hearts.
What will always boost his rep though, will be his final overall numbers, especially in Dodger RP lore.
And Dave, the good robot, will always have that as a ready retort on the tip of his tongue in response to any doubters.
    Asi es la vida...
