What would your greatest of all time players be? Given your thoughts on steroids.. I'm not asking to argue with it, just wondering.
Upon further thought and review, that was not right of me to say and I apologize. It's more along the lines of as you hang around here reading people's posts daily you get certain images, memories, opinions, or feelings about the content and character of other posters and their posts. I pigeonholed you into a Kemp hater based on something or another and shouldn't have. Just like I get put into a category that I think Hairston is a great ballplayer or that I think Mattingly is the greatest manager. Neither are true but looking at the GT posts when those two are involved, it's obvious people put me in that category.
You want my opinion based on ignoring steroid/PED use? In other words do you want me to ignore bonds and ARod because I feel they cheated? Do you want me to include everyone regardless of PED status?
Anything you want. Maybe that's a lame answer but if you think Bonds/Arod aren't top 5 cause they got there only cause of Steroids/PED or if you think they're top 5 regardless. I'm just super curious (again, not to bait or create argument)
1) Obviously that's part of the equation. Giving a guy an 8 year contract is never smart, because injuries are a possibility. Especially a guy who has proven to be very erratic. He will not be worth 160 million dollars, I suspected it then, I know it now. 2) As I said, agree to disagree. And I've never used one stat as an end-all be-all in any argument. I support Miggy over Trout for MVP this season and said it two days ago. Strawman. 3) It's not even close because Trout's hit better and fielded better in his career than Kemp did in 2011. I don't see one argument for something Kemp beat Trout in. 4) You said "Kemp is was that good + Better arm, more power. People forget that.", you started comparing them, not me. 5) What doyer said.
You are a great poster and man, my friend. Both parts of this are great.. not cause of anything of VRP or wtv, just really like this post.
1) If any player ever seemed to not be an injury risk it was Kemp. Obviously not now, but when we signed him he had never been injured. But yes, 8 year deals are risky obviously...that's not debatable...but they the only way to keep great players sometimes. (i.e. Kershaw?) 3) My argument wasn't that Kemp had to "beat" Trout in anything, just be comparable. The fact Kemp had a 39/40 season is something that Trout will never do IMO. He hasn't even been close. Kemp used to hit more HRs which to me is totally underrated as far as advanced metrics. HRs effect the other team's moral, pitcher's mental approach, and the lineup in ways that can't be projected. Not to mention HRs are usually the only way to score off of great pitching. Stringing together hits and walks is just to hard to do against guys like Kershaw. 4) It's obvious I wasn't saying Kemp was better than Trout in any season. I simply stated that they were comparable(as in "as good as"). Pointing out Trout having 2x10 Win seasons is not relevant to our debate. If you were just showing that Trout is better overall than Kemp...I agreed with that.
Maybe if he didn't live so far away. Fucking hiding behind 3000 miles of cops, speed limits, gas prices, time, etc.
LOl, St Louis? That's still 1500 miles! How about I PM you my adress, and I'll defeat you on my front lawn to entertain my neighbors and pets?
Can we go halfsies on my gas and can you help with me the Economics homework I have due Friday after the fight?
Sure on the gas if you drive that BMW(economical)...but Economics homework? I've got economics skills. Don't buy shit you can't afford. Don't let your monthly bills amount to any more than 60% - 70%of your monthly take home pay. EDIT: I forgot the most important thing. Marry a woman that has a good job!
Triple Threat Match at Ford's front lawn! Who wants to make signs with me?? "VRP, the king of WAR". "Ford has been around fights for a long time." "BLF, he's confident... as fuck."
