here’s an idea… how about one wild card winner per league? subjecting anyone to a one-game elimination after a 162 game season is fucken asinine and extend the lds to best-of-seven, you gap-toothed idiot fucken ckunt manfred
What actually may happen in the near future, instead of fairness and your logic, is another WC team...mediocrity has it's own rewards, especially in this increasingly woke baseball world.
We lost Corey Seager right before the 2017 NLCS vs the Cubs and we won in 5 games. I'm trying to be optimistic about the Muncy injury as it feels like a huge gut punch. I still think this team is good enough to go all the way but it's scary that one bad game can end our season Wednesday night. Do you start Bellinger, Beaty, or Pujols on Wednesday? I'd put Beaty at first. 1. Betts RF 2. Seager SS 3. T. Turner 2B 4. J. Turner 3B 5. Smith C 6. Pollock LF 7. Beaty 1B 8. Taylor CF
I keep forgetting about Lux but I am not sure you want him in CF in such a big game. I trust his offense more than Taylor's right now but I'd be too worried about him making a costly mistake defensively.
Definitely can't start Pujols. Career 1 for 10 against Wainwright. Maybe their friendship just messes with his concentration, or maybe he just can't size up the pitches, but that's enough of a sample size to pass on. How do you start Bellinger against anyone right now? Add the fact that he's 1 for 8 against Adam over his career, and I see the present version of Cody going 0 for 4 with 3 Ks. I'm a big believer in going with the hot bat, and right now that's Beaty. Start him and hopefully between him and the rest of the offense, they make up for any loss defensively. By the way, Beaty hasn't faced Wainwright - the advantage there could go either way.
I keep wondering why Pollock doesn't get CF over Lux since he played it for years? Is the concern that he's lost a step?
I don't know for sure, not in that "know all" loop, but he sure looks looks like it going down to 1b...it hasn't seemed to effect him in the OF though. Could very well be the residue from that assinine hamstring injury he sustained while trying one of the most unnecessarily stupid steals of the season. Pretty much need his bat somewhere though. Especially since Mookie is taking a beauty sleep lately.
I just read that Joe West is umping the game.....go ahead and buy your alcohol ahead of time if you're out
Cardinals went 2-3 over their last five. Sure, those games were absolutely meaningless... EXCEPT, potentially, in the momentum category. I'm really hoping that they peaked and are now regressing to their mean. Meanwhile, the Dodger bats are as hot as they've been all season - hope that carries over after this brief break. Regarding Wainwright, yes he's a good pitcher. But I'd be much more worried if it was Snell whom we've never solved. Dodgers scored 4 off Wainwright on Sept 8 over 8.1 innings - a good outing but far from a "shutdown" one. Meanwhile, two days prior, Scherzer allowed zero earned over 8 against them. You tell me, which team should be more intimidated coming into this game?
i absolutely think Beatty should get the start but i haven't seen anyone besides you and i talking about it seems like everyone expects to see Tio or Belly which doesn't put our best hitter out there among the 3 i would be willing to bet dave starts Pujols for his experience
Beatty is swinging as well as he can lately. Give him the shot. If you were going by experience, I'd go Tio. Recent results tell me Beatty is the best option. Belli is a wild card. Wainright isn't a hard thrower, so Belli is a decent matchup for him.
It’s a complete joke that a 106-win team has to play a 90-win team in an elimination game. The Cardinals do not deserve the opportunity that’s being handed to them and, to be honest, aren’t as good as their record indicates. If not for their hot streak, they’re probably a 78-win team.
that's the thing... the cards truly don't deserve this opportunity they have nothing to lose, while we have everything to lose
