You mean that guy 2nd on the team only behind Bellinger in HR, SLG, and OPS vs righties who are the majority of pitchers in the league.... That guy? The one who leads the team in hits and RBI? The leader in the outfield? The best defender on the team? And most underrated star in the league?
He would be claimed by the Phillies. If we were going to trade him it would make more sense in the offseason now that the non-waiver deadline has passed. Probably not going to trade him though, unless we were just in a roster crunch.
agreed presuming darvish pitches well... the postseason roto would be kersh/darvish/wood/hill kenta could be a valuable long man/bridge to the 8th/9th certainly better than dayton/fields(even ravin) as of late
I agree. Ryu and Maeda should be the guys that are tasked to come in if the starter has to come out before the 7th. Then to Baez/Morrow/Watson as setups to Kenley. Thats just ten pitchers. That gives you one or two spots from out of the group that includes the other relievers received this deadline, Ravin, Stripling, Buehler, Paredes, McCarthy, and Brock. That way you can run at least 13 hitters but possibly 14 since the relievers we do have will be of good quality.
Did anyone watch Zaidi's interview during the game? He's actually a pretty good interview, unlike Friedman haha. Anyways, interesting part was when he explained how it's harder to trade prospects when you're a big market team and easier when you're a small market team because when you're a big market, you need to win every year and when you're a small one, it's all about windows. So it's easier to mortgage the future for the current window and rebuild later but when you're expected to win every year, you can't sacrifice winning 3-4 years down the road too much because you're always going to be expected to win.
Being hard on Maeda earlier this season, I don't think his physical makeup is one that ensures the kind of pitching we saw tonight for an extended period of time. His record belies that however, but I think the fine bp work in the past, have earned the lion's share of victories for him in his mostly 5 inning maximum stints. But certainly not last night. If he suddenly has found some inner/outer strength and command, then great for us, but that 10-4 w/l looks like a good trade chip, too. Maybe an ancient Japanese concoction ?
Everyone talking about dealing Maeda............Mr. Blister Jr, Mr Yips, Mr Knee, Mr Bad Back is the one who should hit the road. I hold on to Maeda for dear life until we find out about Darvish in the off season.
Yep I think Maeda should remain a Dodger the remainder of his amazing contract. $3+ million a year for a dude who over the course of the year is a solid back end starter with the upside of a #3 is extremely valuable and useful over a full season
yeah but yippy has no value or minimal at best kenta is entering an awesome stretch and has to have some team salivating atm all for keeping him through this season (although a great deal for a big RH bat still gives me a chub) after that i would definitely sell high if the right opportunity presented itself i like the guy and i know he works hard but this has to be the max he's capable of all depends on what the return would be i remember screaming about trading penny and broxton before their careers went off the tracks and i was called a yahoo roundly
