I feel like I heard the same stuff about the Giants in 2014. We dominated them in September and they looked pretty weak. Won't rule them out until they are out.

Except they've actually played like the worst team in baseball during this season, since July, which didn't happen during any of those years.

And team construction-wise, sure, they have a couple horses at the top of their rotation, but here we are as fans of a LAD team that struggles mightily against LHP and yet Bumgarner has 1 funky ass win against LAD in his 5 tries this year.
    Extra- meh on him too.
They have the worst bullpen they've had in years, no depth, and their dangerous offensive players are a big part of why they are where they are right now, headed to a 1 game playoff, if not a tiebreaker just to reach the 1 game playoff.

All this bickering about whether or not the gnats get a WC seems moot in comparison. I've watched a lot of games this year, but I don't think I've watched one game start to finish without missing a few innings - today I plan on watching the whole game. Honestly, don't even know if I care if we win or not.

    Lineup:

    Howie LF
    Turner 3B
    Seager SS
    Puig RF
    Adrian 1B
    Grandal C
    Pederson CF
    Utley 2B
    Maeda P

Is this the new lineup against lefties? I don't know how I feel about Utley starting against lefties...

    Lets go crazy on offense.

A few changes from the last time they faced Moore (and hammered him).

Just wish we'd stop batting Howie lead off. Anyone else, please.

Agreed. I like Puig leading off and Grandal cleanup better

I still like Puig better with bases empty setting the table and being free rather then trying to rely on him for a home run, productive out, or the like

Leadoff spot isn't really a free spot tho when you're looking for mature ABs in front of Corey so he can bring them in.
DR views the leadoff spot as an AB spot and it doesn't look like they wanna put tablesetter pressure on Puig either.

Utley @ 2B VS LHP wouldn't be a big shocker to me if it holds up into the post season.
Said it a bunch, but the FO has made it a point to be strong up the middle defensively, place great value on it and he's excellent on D.
Can live with it so long as he has solid ABs and makes the pitcher work for his outs, puts the ball in play when it's needed, you know, do the little things to help out like helping the pitch # increase to get to the pen.
Joc would be a cool play VS LHP as well for similar run prevention purposes, see that he's in today as well.
Maybe its nothing tho, maybe they just want them to work today to get reps..we'll see

so then you're proposing, in a reverse karmic juju sort of way that by getting swept in our final series portends well for the long distance playoff success?

    Yeah??

talk about playing with matches in a wood shed full of gas cans

    but you might be right
either way it appears that they are hot and focused on kicking our collective asses
so we're going to find out soon enough

Oh and also because of the Dodgers caving the past two games

Or the fact that STL was unusually bad at home this year.
These games don't count any more than the rest of their opportunities
Could say the same for SFG..like if Bumgarner had done what he's supposed to do against LAD when given the opportunity they'd have homefield over the Mets, have the WC locked up, and be closer to LAD in the standings
Can run down a whole list of if's, but none of them are really the Dodgers' concern, they're in, took care of their business

    agreed
and not to mention the gift non-challenge win they got against the reds
giants are playing above their heads right now, shooting their wad (sf homo) and will have nothing left
i don't fear them at all
they lack the talent/depth of prior years
plus they're not getting through the cubs
    same with the cards
