He's getting Tommy John tomorrow. I know some disagree and some agree...we wasted 9 months for 2 starts.
Too true. He may have cost himself a good chunk of change as well, have to assume he is back mid-next season at the earliest, and if he struggles coming back the rest of the season, they just might decline his $14M option for 2015. If he had gotten surgery last august/september, he could've been back at 100% opening day 2014.
Which is why, IMO, he did something unselfish. Tried hard to do this for the team, just sucks. The doctors gave me hope And also, he'd have a pitch innings limit for 2014 anyways. This way, he misses the first month of baseball next year and maybe even with his innings limit (175? idk) he can pitch into September and MAYBE playoffs.
This is what I've been trying to say! I don't see all the Chad blasting making any sense. And IF he wouldn't have needed the surgery, we'd be fine... it was a possible win situation or a loss with about the same results in either loss. And we more than likely need him at the end of 2014 than just the beginning.
You know, he did seem kind of bummed out when I saw him. I wonder if he regrets not getting the surgery done in the off-season. He had that look in his eyes like he just lost millions down the toilet. Oh well, hopefully he comes back and fucks shit up. I've always liked Chad from day one. I root for the guy but he does piss me off when he pitches like an ace some games then completely loses it in others.
He's got a lot of guaranteed money coming his way through 2014. Money we could never dream of (Even though we have him for under market value). He's probably bummed he can't pitch more than anything.
