Here are my realistic choices, in order, for a SP if we can't resign HiKu:

    Freddy Garcia
    Jon Garland (if 100% healthy)
    Bartolo Colon
    Edwin Jackson
    Javier Vazquez
    Paul Maholm
    Erik Bedard
    Bruce Chen
    Joel Pinero

Good point Tubo...it's always the same with Ned, or much of the time. Garland was good, but came to us as injured, as big and as obvious as Kim's ass. Schmidt was great, but came to us the same way. Padilla was good (even with us) but was resigned as damaged goods...and on and on and on. The same boring road we've driven down 100 times...can't we look for a different route about now? How long winding up down the same fucking dead end?

I mean, everyone buys low on guys, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, it's part of the game. The Cardinals signed Berkman, who was coming off a terrible season where he thought about retiring, and they won the WS because of it.

You might simply be starved for talent and confuse 4-10 @5.01, 4-6 @ 5.00 and 6-16 @4.82 seasons as talent. He gave up an BAVG of over .300 last year. You would be confused if you think that is what the Dodgers need.

Very good K/BB, solid FIP, lefty. Not an ERA or W-L fan myself.

Well, I guess it's a part of our game more than the usual then; and position players are quite a bit different than pitchers, IMO...that must have been what he was thinking all those times he signed those piles of shit that was money down the toilet.
Damn, I think I'm beginning to get Ned's philosophy... please, God, no...

I think we are screwed if we miss out of Kuroda...but then again maybe not. For as good as he pitched for us, we still didn't win much when he toed the rubber....like some great mysterious curse or some shit...so maybe it's not that hard to replace him.

He was so damn good at one time. I remember wishing we had a young homegrown lefty that good....low and behold, wishes do come true!

Really though, Francis had unlucky LOB% the past two seasons, and has a HR/FB rate that would undoubtedly go down at Dodger Stadium. He'd be a good 5 here, undoubtedly better than Eveland or Eovaldi, not even close really.

    Well about that...
183IP / 93K's = 4.57K per 9IP is only fair at best; 39BB = 1.91BB per 9IP is better but still not "very good" His FIP didn't show at all on fangraph so I'm not sure where it's at. Being a lefty is always good so he gets a point there but ERA is still one of the best measures of a pitcher. Either he lets runs across or he doesn't. K's and BB's can vary but if no runs cross the plate then he's good. The Dodgers don't score anywhere near 5 runs per game so this means Francis would lose more than he won in a Dodger uniform too. I can't see this being much a of a catch.

    A 1.91 BB/9 is not very good? That's top 10 in baseball.
