I'd like that if they'd let me like things. I can't like anything.

Edwin Jackson isn't a realistic choice at all, he's going to get PAID. And I have no idea how you have 3 losers like that over him.

You're right, Jackson might be somewhat out of our budget, but not by much.

In regards to calling those three guys losers, let's take a look at their stats from last season (Garland from 2010) and compare it to Jackson's season:

    Name W-L ERA WHIP IP K BB K/9 BB/9 K:BB
    Bartolo Colon 8-10 4.00 1.29 164.1 135 40 7.4 2.2 3.38
    Freddy Garcia 12-8 3.62 1.34 146.2 96 45 5.9 2.8 2.13
    Jon Garland 14-12 3.47 1.32 200 136 87 6.1 3.9 1.56
    Edwin Jackson 12-9 3.79 1.44 199.2 148 62 6.7 2.8 2.39

I really would call them very close to even.

Yeah, those seasons are similar but Jackson is obviously the best out of them. And when you take into consideration that both Colon and Garcia had fluke first halves and completely faltered down the stretch, I dont think I'm in the minority when I expect them to revert to the form they both had in many years previous, as opposed to Jackson who's in his prime years.

Garcia did not fail down the stretch, but otherwise, yeah pretty much

Pre ASB: 3.13 ERA, 259 BAA
Post ASB: 4.45 ERA, 283 BAA

He didnt "completely falter", I suppose that's a bit strong but my point was that neither of their little renaissances lasted.

3.63 ERA in his last 13 starts, over 2:1 K/BB, he had a few bad starts after the break, but people overestimated that he fell apart down the stretch.

Thanks doyer, but that's a pretty vague request by Dee.

Of course, but Rivera/Ellis/Capuano > waiting on Kuroda to make up his mind, then having him decide to leave, getting stuck with nothing.

looks like the 'old dodgers way' right?
defense defense defense, dominant pitching, a couple of big hitters to get you a few runs, prayer and faith in bullpen

that is pretty close to the exact type of lineup we had when we won the series in 88
    what else did we have?
    talented bench and great pitching
we also have that right now
so maybe its an omen :D

btw, kirk gibson used to be a 30/30 guy as well back then
    he is our kemp
    mike marshall is our ethier
    hersh is our kersh

    etc...
you can break it down like that and see that talent wise we are pretty much the same

although having a leader behind the plate like mike is going to be hard to find on this team
that might be what kills any further comparison

ive always been a huge fan of derek lowe
of of the only two things i liked about frank mccourt was that he might bring some of those red sox players i liked
derek lowe is such an underrated pitcher in this league, and youk has always been overlooked by the other star players on the team

instead he got us ned to bring us a bunch of shitty old giants
