I actually think Ward/Kovalev II will be a better fight than Canelo/GGG.
I agree with Teddy Atlas..GGG is 35yrs old and has shown cracks in his last 2 fights, so there may not be as much fireworks as there would´ve been 2-3yrs ago.
They´ll get far more hype than Ward/Kovalev tho for sure, but both Ward and Kovalev are in their primes and sharp.
So I can see Canelo/GGG being sort of a let down to a degree..not a major let down like May/Pac because they´re going to engage far more than May wanted to engage, but a let down nonetheless in terms of the initial/sustained hype of this fight.
This Canelo/GGG fight should´ve happened a couple years ago.
Canelo, to a lesser degree, pulled on GGG what Mayweather pulled on Pacquiao..making sure that Pac´s cracks were clear and that he wasn´t at his best before fighting him.
Just where Canelo made us wait like 3yrs, Mayweather made us wait like 5 or 6 years before agreeing to Pac. Smh
Just 1 of 2 reasons why boxing can be gay AF at times..guys/promoters ducking the best fights.
This Canelo/Chavez fight was a cash grab, Chavez has never truly taken the fight game serious enough, outclassed in every way..just a name.
But I´m locked and loaded for Ward/Kovalev II on June 17th..and I hope GGG beats Canelo so he can stop ducking Ward.
Ward has a L or 2 to hand him.

    A rare battery
Austin Barnes started behind the plate for a Clayton Kershaw start for the first time on Saturday, which was even more noteworthy because the Padres started Clayton Richard on the mound and Austin Hedges behind the plate.

What are the chances? The batteries tonight are Clayton & Austin and Clayton & Austin.

    great post
and i agree for the most part
and maybe it's more hope than reality, but i think canelo/golovkin will be interesting
    like you said they'll engage
but canelo is a far better technician than ggg at this point
reminiscent of another mexican fighter from years back chiquita gonzalez
but like you said, they should have fought 3 years ago
i think golovkin has always had holes defensively and they'll be easier to expose now that he's older
in a way he reminds me a bit of kosta tyzyu (sp)
hits like a sledgehammer but doesn't really even try to elude counterpunches
    ward/kovalev will be a barnburner

GGG is a young 35. He's not had a life of parties, drugs and alcohol. He's looked bored the last couple of fights, this is he fight he's always been after. He will up his training and game. This fights gonna be a fucking classic.

    Anyway, a ginger Mexican?

I thought Kershaw a bit mad last night, and in a way, kind of refreshing to see him flat out pissed off at the umps.
Amazing that he was obviously not what we are used to last night, but pitched like he needed to and gave up just one.
    Horribly paced, but nice W.
We just can't play the Pads enough...smh at tne fact Davis gave last night that 4 of the SF wins of their 11 total are against LA.
Also strange that clips of games between the "division leaders" do not include us.
    Not yet, anyway.

Yeah Canelo is entering his prime, still getting better..maybe with a win here will already be seen as a HOF or at least borderline. He did turn pro @ 15, but still. I think fighting 3yrs ago would've maybe been bad for the initial purse on GGG's side since GGG wasn't as established as Canelo, but the rematch and possible 3rd fight would've been off the charts for both because I think GGG wipes the floor with Canelo back then in the initial fight and immediately puts the world on notice. But if Canelo does win this fight, again, I just hope there's enough GGG left for him to eventually come on up to 175 and face the pound for pound king Ward..grab that pay-day and take the L that he himself has been avoiding for 2+ years. Win, lose or draw against Canelo, GGG will probably look to a rematch with Canelo first to grab another purse, but after that..bring it on up for Ward to kick around. But that's sort of why I don't feel sorry for GGG in all this with Canelo making him wait for a few years..because he himself ducked Ward back when Ward was @ 168.

I remember Tszyu..he whipped Judah's ass..one of the funniest ends to a fight ever. Judah going after the ref after the fight for stopping it. Bonkers. The way Judah got to his feet to fuss at the ref after the knockdown, only for his legs to go dead mid-rant falling on his face..hilarious. Classic. Yeah GGG reminds me of Tszyu as well. Good ol Ricky Hatton came along and put a stop to him..Hatton was almost killed the other day, BTW

Game postponed to September. Gonna rain all day so I'm glad they didn't try to get the game in and possibly injure someone.

Doubleheader in september is better than earlier cause expanded rosters make it easier to handle

I hate the Padres as much as anyone, but I love San Diego. IMO, living in San Diego > LA/OC

Also, you can watch the Dodgers on MLB.tv with no blackouts there.

    Lol.

I like North OC. Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, maybe Huntington. Safe, middle class areas like Cypress have good proximity to LA. Anything Anaheim or further can die

Golovkin will be intereting because he will make it so having been put off so long

Agreeing with Fall, by the time Manny got his shot it was too late.

Which is actually one of the more interesting aspects about Fayweather v. McGregor, Floyd is over 40 while Conor is 27 in his prime
