the Carr fire in Shasta County was started by a tire blowing on someones trailer, totally not the dudes fault. Im not sure how the one in Mendocino county started.
would seem sanity would err on the side of culling some dead trees and properly maintaining fire roads etc
I live 2.5 hours from this fire. It could be from looting as I hear there is a lot of that going on. The Carr Fire started on Monday, July 23 when a vehicle suffered mechanical failure, officials said.
Blame firefighters. I know, right... those dudes are sacrosanct. I live in the woods and have fought a fire to save a hillside with them side by side. I know these guys are the best. But they are just dudes, and dudes sometimes do fucked up shit. This is what I mean... In the 90's we sent prisoners to work those hills and cut firelines so the firetrucks can maneuver up there. We still do but it's now a much smaller operation because firefighters don't like it. Firetrucks often dump water on the prison crews by 'accident'. That water falls on you like heavy razor blades falling from the sky. They fuck with them because prisoners get paid a little and get time taken off their sentence while feeling good about themselves and lifting their reputation and how they are viewed by everyone around them. Except from the firefighters. Firefighters do a lot of this job themselves. They do a lot of this fireline cutting. It is big overtime pay and its fun guy type of thing to do with your friends. You are out there fucking shit up basically. They generally feel its an insult that they allow prisoners to do what is traditionally firefighter work. As if it demeans them in some way while raising the prestige of the prisoners.
