Dodgers sign Mark Ellis/Matt Treanor

I actually think the Treanor signing may be a blessing in disguise. Why?

Because it likely means that Ellis gets at least 100 starts, if not about 120. I am a HUGE AJ supporter and think that when he gets his chance to play with consistency he will show what he is about. Hell, if he plays really well, I think that he could be a natural #2 hitter because he is a contact hitter with a GREAT eye.

I have been an Ellis fan and agree with you. My concern is our lack of organizational depth at the position.

 

There is something I want to place between those for about 15 minutes.

 

I honestly really like Gorman Erickson and think he can be legit. Let's hope we give him a real shot. He should start out at AA and maybe get to AAA by mid-year. Assuming we get a real GM by the end of next year (if not earlier), he will not give FedEx a chance and he will not be in the plans (because he sucks balls) and so Gorman should get a shot in 2013.

 

I actually don't mind Treanor either. Ellis and FedEx should be given most of the starts, but it would be borderline reckless to not sign a veteran who can sit behind the dish. Treanor is a warm body with experience not costing much.

 

Treanor is fine by me as well. Ellis is a POS.
