IMO, new format is awesome. Derby was interesting for the first time since Hamilton.

Giants looked like shit for most of the year before they won their chips. Just got to get hot at the right time.

You can't buy chemistry. Actually, they did. Melky and Scuturo amongst others.

I think we'll hit our stride in the second half and hopefully the trade deadline will be very good to us this year! :D

    that was so much fun.

Now we all gotta go to the home run derby in SD next year when Joc gets home field advantage and takes it all home

Missed it because of the awfulness that is bar exam studying, but sounds like it was a ton of fun. Joc finally representing us well in the HR Derby

We really haven't hit our stride at all this year yet. I think there is still a lot of looking over your shoulder right now and once the deadline passes, guys can pick it up. I mean look at these situations; Ethier/Crawford/Van Slyke/Guerrero/Hernandez fighting for everyday LF, Rollins/Seager/Hernandez at SS and Turner/Callaspo/Olivera at 3B. That can affect not only/necessarily play on the field, but the attitude of the player in the locker room. Then you have the revolving door in the rotation and bullpen, so guys may have a mentality that they may not be here much longer. Some stability after the deadline could help gel these guys a bit and the team can roll the way it is meant to. From the sounds of it, Molly Knight touches on this a bit in her book as one of many issues regarding last years team. These are going to be the issues for a team that is transitioning, so get used to it.

Side note: With Olivera knocking on the door, Turner being our best hitter and nobody taking the reins in LF, I'm somewhat shocked that we have not seen any, "Turner taking balls in LF today" tweets. Would love it if he could handle that position and get us a way to keep his bat in the lineup everyday. Mmmm Pederson, Howie, Turner, AGon, Olivera, Grandal, Puig, Rollins sounds like a fun line up... sub in Seager and I may need some alone time with that one...

Yeah. Past derbys are slow as fuck because they only had ten pitches and had to be really selective.

Now they can swing away. Helps that Cinci's ball park is band box too,.

Next year at PetCo is gonna be interesting.

Am I the only one who noticed Frazier hit a "homer" that a fan reached over the wall and touched and they gave him the homer, but Joc hit one that a fan reached over for and they didn't count it, WTF?

Nonetheless a great performance for Joc, he was awesome. If people didn't know who he was before, they certainly do now.

    I love the kid.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Oh well, it doesn't really mean anything. I'm just thrilled Joc made us look good for once haha.

Joc got hosed, but it's cool he made himself and the Dodgers look good.

He'll probably be back in the contest in the future, he's perfect for it.

I also noticed that Frazier was hitting balls while previous ones were still in the air. Not a huge deal, it's whatever, but everyone else had to wait until their balls landed.

I don't want to whine about the HR Derby, but Joc definitely put on a nice show.

It's all good. I was just excited to see a Dodger in the finals.
