I am kind of expecting a tough spring from Ferguson. He is supposedly adjusting to a new curve grip, plus if he wants to be a starter(which they are said to be moving him back to), he absolutely needs to be throwing his change more and maybe trying to utilize a slider.
Pollock does not look good. Reminds me of Dozier, Freese, Forsythe, [fill in the blank with past their prime Dodger pick ups].
Urias had another impressive outing yesterday and in his own words, is still holding back a bit here during spring training. They will really need to bring him along slowly since he is coming from basically missing two full seasons, but holy shit the early results are incredibly exciting. Worked 94-96 yesterday, touching 97 on a couple of occasions as well. Dude is still only 22 and with everything going on, his control is going to last through his age 28 season from what I can tell. I know we have a lot of jaded fans in here, but there is still a bright future ahead for this team with guys like Urias and Buehler that don't appear to be scared of the bright lights of October. Not to mention, giving the org the window to let Hill($16M AAV) and Ryu(17.9M AAV) walk at seasons end, frees up a shit ton of funds in the upcoming seasons to be allocated elsewhere.
hmmmm.... Tony Gonsolin getting the start today while Hill is going to be throwing in an MiLB game instead, that should be fun to...*checks MLB At Bat App*... watch, hooray. Guessing Hill is getting the MiLB game since they will be playing the Giants so much this season.
Mad respect for his fire, the adversity he's fought through and his damn good performance with us, but I'm kind of sick of Rich Hill. I have no data a real reason to feel this way but I do. Lost a lot of respect for him when his wife went virtue signaling on Twitter after game 4. Plus all the blister shit
Must have missed the wife thing, but can't really fault the player when their loved ones come out in their defense on social media. Though it is certainly not the right route to go. Considering Hill has been arguably our best big game pitcher since coming aboard, not sure why we should be mad at him and from the sounds of it, they found the cause of the blister thing. The FO said from the start, we only care about having him in the postseason since we have the depth to get us through the regular season.
As I said, he's been damn good for us Even with a blow up disaster here and there, there's probably nobody I trusted more When things have ended the way they've ended, it just feels like we're reliving the same season over and over again. "Oh, Hill is pissed off on the backfields", "Richie is frustrated with his blister after 1/3 inning" "Kershaw is hurt" "Joc can't hit" "Verdugo is headed to AAA camp" etc The fan in me wants change just for the sake of it... ...Which is why I'm glad the FO is in charge and not me Twitter had nothing to do with fans coming after Hill, needing someone to defend him. His wife used a tragic shooting as a weapon to suggest certain people shouldn't be allowed to watch the World Series or comment on the game. Baseball is the one place I go to to get away from shit like that and I have to admit that is probably the biggest reason I made the comments about Hill...which I realize is irrational. As for the blister thing, if they've got it figured out, that's great.
He got away with a fastball right down the dick on the pitch before making Longoria look foolish. I would not be shocked if they have him use a 2-seamer some more this season
