He was announced as an outfielder, but Cotillo says they haven't come to a final decision on where he'll play.

Cotillo also says Verdugo has already agreed to a bonus figure and will sign...

I think Hill would have been our pic if Holmes wasnt there. I mean Im sure not many thought Holmes would fall to us at 22
Great pick and should be a top 75 prospect before next season. And fucking if not for Kasten we maybe could have took Hunter Harvey last year instead of the birdman

Thanks man appreciate it. Right now it's still an internship but they really like what I've been doing so far this year. School is just finishing so I can get out to some minor league games again soon

Grant Holmes went to the Broxton school of interviews. Pretty cool to watch.

3rd round pick: RHP John Richy
Richy began the season as a weekend starter, but the mustachioed man now finds himself stepping into the spotlight of the Friday night starter’s role due to Erick Fedde’s recent injury. He took advantage of the opportunity against San Diego State, throwing eight innings of shutout baseball while striking out five and walking zero batters. The 6-foot-4 righty possesses a mature frame with some room to put on additional weight. Richy will show his athleticism in his ability to stay balanced and consistently repeat his simple delivery. There is a decent-sized leg kick within the delivery, but he will stay tall from start to finish. However, Richy will down his momentum when beginning his stride due to the way his arm stroke works from his rear pocket. In regards to the arsenal, the fastball showed plus, consistently clocking in at 92 mph. But it was the command that carried him, as Richy moved the offering in and out with a quick working pace to keep hitters off balance. The secondary offerings need work, though, as there isn’t a strong feel for a low 80s changeup and a 79 mph curveball possesses early bite. Still, there’s enough here to keep things interesting.

So excited about this pick, having seen Jon pitch 4 times this year (I am a UNLV student), he has a good 3-pitch mix kind of in that Ross Stripling 3rd/4th starter mold. Should sign well-under slot as well.

89-92 (though I can't vouch for the accuracy of the guns), will touch 93 or 94.

    Went underslot with picks 3/4

Now I want high upside toolsy prep players/or those with signability issues and just drop money :vrp:

Then we can end with those $5,000 seniors

What do you think is Holmes' potential, though? Like, who would you compare him to? He seems to have some sick stuff, especially that 82-85 mph curve.

He just needs to get rid of that jewfro, and we're good lol :p

I think the jewfro is the source of his powers.

Logan compared Holmes to Matt Cain and Bills (maybe because he looks just like Cain and is stocky like Bills --not quite sure an accurate comp in terms of pitching? Chris can enlighten us)
He also said he has the athleticism that Zack Greinke has

But as I read more, I love this pick. A prep kid who can touch 98 and has a plus curve as an out pitch at the age of 18? Thats so sexy

His stuff is nasty. touches 98 like BG said, sits 93-96 and has a hammer. Change and command will need to improve but so does every other prep pitcher. Love the upside with the 22nd pick. This time next year people wont believe he fell that far.

I think it has to do with his height because he's listed 6'1 and so is Bills and Greinke is listed 6'1. dude sounds like a simple guy which is probably a good thing (can't get in his head as much) and just pump that FB in there in rookie ball and he'll be well on his way up the chain
