Bad night for our pitching prospects. Zach gave up 4 in 6, Windle in 3 2/3 gave up 3 and Reed gave up 6 in 5 innings.

Speaking of Seager... He had 2 more hits today, including his 6th home run! EN FUEGO

    Meanwhile, Chris Anderson's outing on the mound wasn't very good (4.1IP 8H 5ER, 8K)

Problem was that CC, Ethier and Kemp were all way low in terms of value. We would have gotten next to nothing for them, while eating substantial money. The team needed to try and see what they had left in the tank. They had all brought their values up one way or another until Crawford shit all over his the other night. I wish the kid was up, just have no clue how you go about it.

Seager 2-2 so far today, and he hit a HR off of Mark Appel (last year's #1 pick). Mark Appel is actually looking like a fucking bum lol, 10 H (3HRs) 1BB 10ER in 1.1 innings. Astros take a big L.

Isn't that the same guy who sat out a year because the already large signing bonus wasn't big enough for his liking?

Ended up 3 - 5 with 5 RBI and is now hitting .354! Jon Garcia (yeah I know who?) had 3 jacks and 7 RBI and raised his average to .207? The phenom Urias pitched 3 scoreless with only 1 K but after he left the rest of the staff gave up 12. Appel gave up 10, yikes!

I was at the Kerlan-Jobe facility in LA today for a doctor's appointment and I saw Mark Appel in the office getting looked at and he looks like he was hurting so their might be something wrong with the guy physically. As we sat there waiting for them to call us in I remember a reel of classic Dodger highlights come on the TV and Mark looking at them with a look on his face like, "Damn, I wish I was in Dodger blue instead of this shitty Astros organization." :whyme:

I wanted Gatewood or Hill. We just love drafting pitchers.

Gatewood sucks. Raw power and that's it. Hill might be the best player in the draft... thought we would take him because his dads a dodgers scout.

Holmes is a motherfucker though. Lots of people love the way he pitches

I love the Grant Holmes pick!!!

MLB.COM had him ranked #11 and we got him at #22. His stuff is electric, I'm really excited.

I always loved High School players anyways, because they have potential to grown even better.

    2nd round pick: Alex Verdugo.
Here's what I wrote about him last summer.

Verdugo impressed throughout the games, both on the mound and at the plate. He featured a fastball that sat 90- 92 and touched 93 with good arm-side life. The arm strength was evident but there was plenty of effort in his delivery. He was able to spin his curveball well and get nice vertical drop with it. Verdugo might have more upside in the outfield, though, with solid tools across the board. The arm is obviously plus, and he pairs that with good outfield defense and above-average speed. During batting practice, he rocketed balls into the gaps and sold out for a little more pull-side power. He was dipping his back shoulder and trying to lift, but he did hit a couple balls off the wall and one that cleared, no easy feat with the wind blowing in hard. In game action, Verdugo showed off natural hitting ability with several balls hit hard in the gaps, including a triple.

Verdugo has tools and a feel for the game, but he lacks size, as he is listed 6’0” and 195 lbs. Some are torn on where he will end up on the diamond. From what I saw, he has greater upside in the outfield and could be a good LF/CF candidate. If he can add some strength, I could see RF as an option, too. Verdugo has gobs of talent and it will be interesting to see where he goes in the 2014 draft.
