JDL pitched last night, 2IP, 0H, 0R,0BB and 3Ks. (First appearance in almost 3 weeks, could be limiting innings)

    Was followed up by Cotton, 5IP, 3H, 2R, 1BB and 5Ks.

I know. Just saying that limiting innings is likely the reason for the short outing.

All these pitchers progressing on up the chain is exciting to say the least. It also is an indicator of what I have been writing for some time now and that is we are not going to go hog wild on long term pitching contracts next off-season. This could all drastically change if Zack isn't re-signed however, but I'm confident he'll stay.

I had that confidence early in the season, but now I don't. His season thus far has been a free agents dream, maximizing his potential options/price.

The status of the prospects however, gives me hope that we can remain a powerful pitching team even if we lose Zack.

My concern at this point is that he's been lights out awesome, but he regularly gets screwed by this BP. He's gonna get paid by everyone....its not the cash. What will this FO do to make the team be a real WS contender.

I'm not that confident he'll return. Our owners could outbid anyone if they choose to, but I'm not sure they will. They seem to favor building the farm system over anything, and even though Zack's been with us he's still going to be looked at as a high-priced free agent.

I would hate to see Zack go but I could see the FO wanting the pick attached to Zack and then going and signing a Cueto/Price or even both??

It's not what I'd want at all. Zack is the shit and one of my favorite players but I feel like this FO would go that route for sure. Zack has been so damn good though and in the post-season too that it would be really hard to see him go. In a perfect world we re-sign him and go after a Cueto/Price.
