Agree. For some reason I see Micah being our replacement for Dee who wasn't the player he is now a couple years back. Dee figured it out maybe Micah can too? Also, Trayce had a really good month when he was called up albeit in a non-pressure situation but he surprised many with his offensive development, again like Dee. Maybe I'm a little optimistic but I haven't heard alot of bad reviews on this trade if any.

I would apply the same statement to Frazier, and the stats would bear me out.

For anyone interested in the draft (like myself), the Dodgers look to have 5 picks in the Top 70 (6 in the top 110), and stand to have a draft pool of over $11M, this assuming they don't sign anyone who got a QO, and Kendrick goes elsewhere.

Haven't done much research on next year's draft yet? What's the opinions on the strength of this draft? Pitcher heavy? Bats? Although I suppose it's hard to really tell before this spring happens.

Relatively weak... but that's not saying much. I actually like some of the high school bats in this years draft compared to last year like Mickey Moniak. Also having pick 25, 30 and 36 is pretty cool.

I'm seeing this as an opportunity to maybe grab a top-10 talent (a guy who wants a lot and will be a tough sign) despite not having the pick, because they have the pool money, not unlike what the Astros did with Daz Cameron.

    Dodgers minor league managers announced
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 1 minute ago

Less than one week after officially naming Dave Roberts’ coaching staff, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced the hires of their Minor League affiliates.

Bill Haselman takes the helm with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Ryan Garko at Double-A Tulsa, Drew Saylor at High-A Rancho Cucamonga, Gil Velazquez at Low-A Great Lakes, Shaun Larkin at Rookie-advanced Ogden and John Shoemaker with the Rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers.

Last season Haselman guided the Quakes to the 2015 California League title. He also managed in the Arizona Fall League this year. Next season will be Haselman’s third with the Dodgers organization and sixth overall as a Minor League manager.

Along with the Quakes, Haselman previously managed the Loons (2014), the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim High-A affiliate Inland Empire (2012-13), and the Texas Rangers’ former High-A affiliate in Bakersfield (2010).

Garko served as an assistant coach at Stanford University, his alma mater, in 2014. He spent six seasons in the Majors playing for the Cleveland Indians (2005-09), San Francisco Giants (2009) and Rangers (2010).

Saylor joins the Dodgers after spending the past four years in the Colorado Rockies organization. The 31 year old managed Single-A Tri-City in 2013 and 2014, with club going 67-85 during his tenure.

Prior to that, Saylor worked as hitting coach for High-A Modesto last season and High-A Grand Junction in 2012. Next season will be Velazquez’s first as manager.

He made his coaching debut last season as the fourth coach for the AZL Dodgers. Velasquez spent five seasons in the Majors, playing for the Boston Red Sox (2008-09), Angels (2011) and Miami Marlins (2012-13).

Larkin made his managerial debut in 2015 with Single-A Lake County, an Indians affiliate. He also has experience as a hitting coach other Cleveland Minor League affiliates, and stints as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge, Orange Coast College and Newport Harbor High School.

Shoemaker, recipient of the 2015 Mike Coolbaugh Award, transitions from managing Ogden to leading the AZL Dodgers.

He was also named the Dodgers’ “Captain” of Player Development last season. Shoemaker enters his 40th season with the Dodgers organization and 23rd as a Minor League manager. He was selected by the Dodgers in the 35th round of the 1977 draft and has remained with the organization since.

The only people that are negative about that trade are people that wanted us to nab Frazier which would do the team no good since they have Turner. I'm one of the few that had been openly hoping the team would move Turner to 2B, but not now that there is worry about mobility coming off of the surgery. Though he is not going to hit the dingers like Frazier, Turner appears to be the better bat and I am happy that the team seems to have gotten the better end of the stick on the deal, even if it was a prospect swap.

Also, what the hell were all these reports that Peraza has a shitty glove now? All I had ever heard about was how he had an elite glove which was his top asset along with his speed. I'm interested to see where he goes from here since he is coming off of a pretty down year.

hoping turner recovers well from surgery
personally never thought he was a viable fit at 2b
rather keep him where he's better/more comfortable

I had hope after some of the nice plays he made on shifts when he was on the right side of the field. Was kinds hoping that maybe playing everyday at the position would allow him to get more comfortable at 2B and at least be league average at the position.

    think Dee Brown.
people want him to be a SS but has a shit glove for SS
moves to 2B and is a lot better but because its still kinda new some mistakes show
people carry the shitty glove idea forward to the new position
they also have similar skill sets
great speed, average hitting with low OBP and little power

when we traded Dee he was in the process of getting stronger
by the time he is in Miami he is no longer skinny little Dee
and more time at 2B has turned him into a good defender at the position, good enough to get a gold glove
still is horrible at getting on base on anything but a hit, luckily he hit like 170 singles last season.

so basically Peraza needs to play and develop into Dee Gordon in 2 or 3 years.
    but most likely not :D
hope not because then that would suck
then again i dont think that this type of player fits into the system very well
unless a .333 type average can be relied on for more than just one season
because you gotta get on base frequently to really make that high power speed threat to be worth the money

The 2015 slot value of the Dodgers first 3 picks (22, 30 and 36) is $5.78M. Although, the first 2 picks will likely move some, the first pick could (likely will) move up a few more spots, and the second pick can move no lower than 33, as a couple of the players come from the same team (Chen & Davis), (Zimmerman (obviously already signed, so the Nats next Comp pick comes after the Dodgers first) & Desmond) and (Upton & Kennedy) also, two players come from teams ahead of the Dodgers in the standings (Fowler & Gordon) and one is a former Dodger (Kendrick).

Here is a more direct explanation:
"These picks are also ordered by inverse order of 2015 record. Should a team lose multiple qualified-offer free agents, each subsequent pick would come after every other team gets their comp pick."

I have also determined that a potential comp pick for Kendrick can be no later than 41, this is based on their being 9 QO players left and the Dodgers having the #36 pick, also the last pick of the comp round belonging to the Cardinals (best record). At present, their are 26 picks in the first round, and 15 potential comp picks(20 received QOs, 3 accepted, and 2 have re-signed with their teams resulting in no pick), plus the comp for Funkhouser. 26+15+1=42, and the Cardinals are guaranteed to have the last pick of the comp round.

Dodgers preliminary :prospects: grade distribution breakdown
by John Sickels | True Blue LA — 23 Dec 2015

Here is the current grade distribution breakdown for 35 Los Angeles Dodgers prospects, with the names listed below. I am very much looking forward to putting this team behind me.

    Grade A: Two
    Grade A-: Zero
    Grade B+: Two
    Grade B: Three
    Grade B-: Six
    Grade C+: Nine
    Grade C: 13

There is play at the upper bounds. The two Grade As are firm, but one B+ has a chance at A- and the B+/B/B- range is sloppy at this point but I opted for conservatism on the first run. Have fun guessing.

    Los Angeles Dodgers (35 players):
    Imani Abdullah RHP
    Yadier Alvarez RHP
    Chris Anderson RHP
    Scott Barlow RHP
    Austin Barnes C
    Cody Bellinger 1B-OF
    Walker Buehler RHP
    Willie Calhoun 2B
    Ralston Cash RHP
    Jharel Cotton RHP
    Brendon Davis SS
    Chase De Jong RHP
    Jose De Leon RHP
    Yusniel Diaz OF
    Caleb Dirks RHP
    Kyle Farmer C
    Mitch Hansen OF
    Starling Heredia OF
    Grant Holmes RHP
    Micah Johnson 2B
    Zach Lee RHP
    Nolan Long RHP
    Frankie Montas RHP
    Jordan Paroubeck OF
    Jacob Rhame RHP
    Josh Sborz RHP
    Jacob Scavuzzo OF
    Corey Seager SS-3B
    Andrew Sopko RHP
    Ross Stripling RHP
    Trayce Thompson OF
    Ronald Torreyes SS
    Julio Urias LHP
    A.J. Vanegas RHP
    Alex Verdugo OF

Those are some pretty solid scores. Also have to remember that until a lot of these Int"l guys come over and start playing in the states, their scores will be a bit on the lower side.

    :prospects:

The Dodgers still haven’t added any top-flight starting pitching to offset the loss of Zack Greinke, but president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman says he is now happy with the organization’s depth, Bill Plunkett writes for Baseball America. “This offseason is different than last in that going into next year, we feel much better about our pitching depth that will be in (Triple-A) Oklahoma City,” says Friedman. “We have a number of guys that we like that will be there and that is a big difference for us next year compared to this year just in terms of the depth that we’ll have on hand.” Oklahoma City’s rotation will likely feature top prospects Julio Urias and Jose De Leon, along with 40-man members Jharel Cotton and Ross Stripling.
