I'll believe the rumors when I see it. In the back of my mind though is the threat that we could trade, Bellinger, Verdugo and JDL. Yet unproven yes but I damn the age and talent of those kids!!!!

They lost Trapaneo and Soto to the DL this week. If we offered Urias/Joc/Puig/Holmes/Barnes I think that would get the conversation started.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are looking into scenarios that are completely off the radar.

 

I just want an OF'er that can hit LH and RH pitching, having two platoon players in the OF is not ideal.

Considering the comeback year he's having and that LAD and Tampa are talking, I'd consider Longoria " big game ".
Who knows, maybe Longoria could surprise in RF somewhat like Howie's done in LF, at least for the rest of the season?
Maybe Friedman would know that and that's " the shocker " everyone's thinking of?
Or maybe JT would embrace stepping into RF some?
Longoria and/or JT would have to be as good as old man Beltran out in RF, right?

But anyway, between Longoria/JT they would also get the opportunity to sit Adrian some to rest his back a bit and keep him fresh going forward.
Longoria could also step in at 3B every 4th or 5th day when Turner gets a day off.
He could also just take 3B whenever LAD faces LHP since he rakes and JT has struggled in a major way against LHP the last 2 seasons.
JT's better at 3B defensively, but Longoria isn't that far behind him, I like the idea of adding Longoria more and more as the days pass, it'd sorta be the " ultimate depth play " if they pulled the trigger while keeping JT at the same time, but obviously Longoria's in the lineup everyday instead.

VS. RHP: Utley 2B/Corey SS/Longoria RF/Adrian 1B/JT 3B/Howie LF/Yasmani C/Joc CF
VS. LHP: Howie LF/Corey SS/Longoria 3B/Adrian 1B/Yasmani C/SVS RF/Trayce CF/Taylor 2B
All of a sudden the VS. RHP lineup is pretty damn loud top to bottom with pretty good potential for mature ABs.
And between Howie, Longoria, Yasmani and SVS, the VS. LHP lineup has potential to do some damage as well, especially if Corey, Adrian and Trayce find themselves against southpaws.
Because of the money owed to Longoria I kinda have a better idea of what it'd take to get Archer, though, so the Longoria play is cloudier from a personnel/swap standpoint more than anything else for me, they could definitely use Longoria in an OF corner/in the 3 spot in the order ASAP.
I'm with @jpldodgers, I'm dancin like the Russian kid in that video if they bring Longoria home.

 

So when is the deadline this year? Noon pacific on 8/1? I have stupid work all day of course.

 

Or really go " big game " and figure out the kinda value it'd take going back to get both Archer and Longoria.
They obviously haven't been able to pull anything like that off yet, but I imagine working with Friedman's old club is at least one of the best possible scenarios if they ever did, so LAD and the Rays talking seems like a good look.
And let's be frank, nobody else in MLB is working with as many assets as LAD, so they should be able to sit down and crunch the numbers and figure it out without depleting the farm system.
I'm thinking JDL has to go, though, and probably Holmes.
LAD's farm system is so rich, who the hell knows what that deal would look like?
