LOL.....Kenley would bring us some good prospects, but no one is taking Grandal or Gonzo off our hands for "lots of prospects". You might be overvaluing a bit.....

Good time to move Puig along with Urias...they were rumored to have some interest in him earlier, weren't they?
His legs are always going to be a problem, and he will always be spending time on the DL multiple times and sporadically just like now.
Give them someone else, too if need be, but a chance to get Sale is one they cant miss out on.
    I dont think.

I duno. I would think that IF the conversation is happening it is Urias/Holmes/Belanger/Verdugo. I would love to think that the Sox would take Puig and say Barnes instead of Verdugo or Belanger, but I doubt it.

Well they are deep in talent in the farm system.......so that kind of trade would be a hit but not a devastating hit.

Yeh...probably right. Just daydreaming...I dont usually do this trade stuff , but I would really like us to be in it this year.
Would be actually nice. Y' know...so different than the usual.

Dude, we are all daydreaming here........that is the beauty of it. I don't want to lose Urias, but it has been soooooo long since we made serious noise in the playoffs (I was there in 88), that Id Like to take my kids to a meaningful playoff game like my dad did with me. So if we need to part with Urias to get Sale and make that playoff run......id do it.

I'm not getting my hopes up high for Sale. And Urias plus others would hurt.

If in addition to a possible Sale deal there are deals in the works to get a solid BP arm and a solid bat that is actually clutch when it matters, then the nerds get an A this trade deadline for an overall year grade of B...pending final exams.

    probably in the minority
but i'd rather the nerds held back on sale
if the team's hitting, we win
    if not, then not
i like sale (the pitcher) but not for what he'd cost
as for sale the person, he seems like a douche

can't say for sure, but trading urias feels a lot like pedro martinez 2.0

so the padres are paying roughly $22MM for upton to play in toronto for this year and next
    nice job preller :padres:
    • The Toronto Blue Jays acquired outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. and cash from the San Diego Padres for minor league pitcher Hansel Rodriguez. Upton is making $15.45 million this season and $16.45 million next season, the final year of a five-year deal he signed with the Atlanta Braves before the 2013 season. The Padres will pay all but $5 million of what is owed to Upton, according to MLB Network and confirmed by ESPN.

Preller without a doubt is the dumbest GM in the MLB. I doubt he lasts into the offseason.

Still doesnt beat some of Billy Beanes trades though...

Speaking of which, any word on Sonny Gray? Is he staying in Oakland? Or is he so messed up it isn't worth it?

No way that's right because I thought the Braves ate some of that when he was traded to San Diego?
