Btw this has nothing to do with the blown saves. Just putting it out there because legit prospects are being moved for relief rentals.

What?? Are we really talking about getting rid of Jansen? The guy that broke Gagne's all time saves record? The same guy with a 1.44era and a 0.687WHIP?

I didn't say to dump him because he sucks.

I said to CONSIDER trading him for prospects that could potentially get us someone like Chris Sale and retain most of our current young guys.

Kenley is a beast. He's an asset.

Kenley is better than Chapman. Look what the Yankees got for him. 2 top 5 organizational prospects+, right? Shouldn't Kenley net something similar?

Package those top prospects with Urias and all of a sudden the White Sox are taking our calls. And we may not have to give up Verdugo, Calhoun, Belinger, etc.

A 1/4 season of Kenley + Urias basically for multiple years of a top 5 pitcher.

    That's the problem.

You have to find a short term replacement which is risky.

But come next April we are better off. A lot of things to weigh.

If someone offered something crazy for Kenley like the Nats offering a Giolito or Turer, or shit call the Cubs and say, "hey you really wanna lock it down? Send us Contreras and Jimenez." I'd be all for it. I like Kenley, but I'm in the boat where I believe that the FO is not going to resign him after this year. I could see them offering him the QO and he gets some insane offer from the D'Backs to be their closer or some team like that.

I could see that happening, and I said the same about the QO. The FO looks in terms of value, and if they think they can get the same results for less money/years then that's what they will do.

Im not sure about making a trade that creates a hole.....and in this case a huge hole. Dude these are prospects......that is all they are now. If we can trade a few of them to get a PROVEN player then that is a no brainer. Look the only reason the tankees traded Chapman is because he is a FA at the end of the year and will probably go to the highest bidder for a multiple year deal, of which he could go back to the tankees, as he has mentioned (I suspect now that the domestic issue is behind him he will seek more cash for multiple years). Also, because the tankees are not making the playoffs, or if they did not doing much, this was a WIN WIN for them and Chapman. They were dealing from a position of strength with Betances coming up. So in our case if we tried this with Jansen, not only do we not have a "Betance" to replace him, but we would not have assurances he would resign. Oh and I absolutely think MGT will resign Kanley in the off season.

Then trade Kenley, Grandal and Gonzales.
    Get back lots of prospects.
Turn those prospects plus our prospects into Sale, Braun, Lucroy, and Jeffress.
Make Baez the new closer. Or use Jeffress.
Start Kendrick or Utley at 1B.
Sign Chapman and Edwin Encarnacion to play 1B in the offseason.

That, and a few bullet holes in a garage wall that scared these PC fux away. Imagine trading Kenley in the Sale deal and still having Chapman? OTT

Los Angeles Dodgers: Julio Urias Available for Chris Sale

The Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams interested in White Sox ace Chris Sale. In order to get Sale, the Dodgers are reportedly willing to trade prized lefty Julio Urias.
Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale has been in the news in recent days for reasons other than trade speculation. Sale is currently suspended, and his actions have caused some to wonder if he is trying to force Chicago to trade him.

The White Sox have reportedly set quite a high asking price for Sale. Chicago at one point wanted five top prospects in exchange for Sale. It remains to be seen if the ChiSox will deal Sale, and, if they do, how much they will get in return. However, a playoff contender with a prized prospect in its arsenal is reportedly eyeing Sale.

Joel Sherman of the New York Postreported on Monday that the Los Angeles Dodgers have such a high level of interest in acquiring Sale that they would be willing to include top prospectJulio Urias in the trade. As Sherman points out, the Dodgers weren’t willing to include Urias in talks last season, when the Philadelphia Phillies were shopping Cole Hamels. Hamels, of course, was ultimately dealt to the Texas Rangers.

... If the Dodgers would indeed include Urias, it would likely position them well to acquire Sale.

Obviously, Urias alone wouldn’t tempt Chicago to trade Sale. But the Dodgers are one of a few teams with a system deep enough to acquire Sale. If the White Sox covet pitching in return for their ace, the Dodgers’ system is the place to look. The Dodgers’ top four prospects, as rated by MLB Pipeline, are all pitchers: Urias, Jose De Leon, Grant Holmes, and Frankie Montas.

The hype surrounding Urias was extremely high when he debuted, but he endured some struggles. Nevertheless, he is just 19 years-old, and he has massive potential. There have, however, been questions about whether Urias is better suited long-term in the bullpen. If the White Sox were to acquire Urias, he would become their top prospect immediately.

Sale, for both his ace-level talent, and cheap contract make him a hard piece to trade. But there has been drama between Sale and the team. Even before the jersey incident, Sale clashed with Kenny Williams over the handling of the Adam LaRochesituation. Maybe a split is best for both parties. In that case, no one can blame the White Sox for wanting the best-possible return. Sale is under contract next season for just $12 million, and then his contract carries team options for 2018 and 2019, at $12.5 million and $13.5 million, respectively.

The Dodgers are currently without Clayton Kershaw, so acquiring Sale would bring an ace back to their staff in the immediacy. Also, the thought of Kershaw and Sale eventually in the same rotation has to be daunting for opposing teams. If it comes at the cost of Urias plus others, the Dodgers may simply consider that the cost of doing business.

Love the kid so far but we sure could use an ace more than an inning limited kid still trying to see if he can make it.

I think he'll make it and be a great MLB pitcher but it's interesting how the Nerds attitude has changed
