Our pen is worn out and it's been affecting us so anything to slow that team's pen is a good thing.

I'm torn on Bruce. On one hand, he's looking like LH Matt Kemp with aids defense and a good bat. On the other hand, man he's hitting the fuck out of the ball, far more than Matt Kemp has been doing the last few years.

Bruce doesn't thrill me all that much, but he really is hitting the ball well. He was one of the better hitting OF's before the injuries crept up on him and would definitely add that big power bat that we seem to be sorely lacking. One thing though is that he has never hit well at Dodger Stadium. He is still young enough that age decline is not on the horizon for a couple years so they could get 1.5 years of productivity out of him and then get a 1st round pick after next season. His D numbers should also tick up with a move to LF where his arm would make it so teams could be more forced to go station to station on us. I'm interested to see what he would cost as his last two years don't warrant a top flight prospect, but could require something good like a Holmes an hopefully none of the teams top positional players of Calhoun, Verdugo or Bellinger. The other thing the Dodgers should be doing is showing interest in players that the Giants may be in on. Their system is garbage and the Dodgers could easily trump any deal of theirs or at least threaten to unless they were to throw in a Fox or Arroyo. I would not be shocked to see the Dodgers in on a ton of names without any real interest, just wanting to bring up the price for teams like the Cubs and Giants.

 

On another note, hard to see the club going after a Bruce/Braun guy if they think they have a real shot at landing Gourriel. YG would be an offensive punch and then the FO could use the added available resources to land a needed front of the rotation arm. Hard to believe that the FO would deplete a lot of the farm with deals for a big bat and big arm when they have no Int'l money over the coming seasons, a lot of aging vets and their top prospects are at positions of need within 1-2 seasons. Though I will admit that it would be great to see them find a way to land YG, Bruce/Braun and a #2 without losing a Calhoun, Bellinger or Verdugo.

 

Cincy has Homer Bailey's contract that LAD may be able to kick in a portion of money on to get him flipped to another team, use payroll relief as additional value.
Some kind of 3 team deal between LAD/Cincy/ATL with Bruce/Puig/Teheran/Bailey as the headlining MLB level pieces.
LAD using cash moreso than multiple prospects, Holmes probably one of them tho.
