Marlins want to trim the payroll to 90 million. Wonder if we can get Ozuna.

It will be interesting to see what direction the FO takes in the off-season with Taylor. 4 guys before him probably get first shot in the OF in ST with Pederson, Verdugo, Toles and Puig since that’s all they can play. I know it may sound crazy, but Pederson(like Puig) has too much talent for them to just give up on him and he’s too cheap to sell low. People also forget about Tolesy, but dude was off to a good start before the injury. If he comes back and is right, you could have him in LF, Verdugo in CF and Puig in RF with Taylor at 2B vs RH and LF vs LH. Aiming to have Taylor at 2B long term seems to be the ideal route. His range at the position would make for a very good defensive right side, plus him and Tolesy batting 1-2 would make for two excellent table setters.

As long as he is somewhere in this lineup.
I don't think CT was a fluke this year...it would be a shame if it was.
Something like Turner...had his epiphany with the Dodgers.
In some ways, our MVP, beyond Turner, that is.
For every player that is overpaid, it is balanced out by a player like CT, who for his salary, is like scoring a collectible treasure at a garage sale...

I'll be pretty impressed if Toles is back and at the top of his game by the Spring. Usually takes more than a year for guys to feel like themselves after an ACL tear, but best wishes to him. Little fella was slugging in the top half of the league at his position when he got hurt, nice ISO numbers. This FO/staff and their reclamation excellence..ya got Toles, Puig, Turner, Taylor, Morrow, etc. Have to wonder what will become of Jose Miguel Fernandez, but yeah, at this point it wouldn't shock me if they were able to resurrect Fat Joc. Lock him in a warehouse with nothin but nutritious foods for starters? Hopefully, their greatest project yet will be one Clayton Kershaw.

I’d be hard pressed to believe that he’s not for real. I think if he was not for real, teams would have adjusted accordingly and his numbers would have tumbled in the second half from teams adjusting. Instead he crushed again. He wore down going into the break and into the postseason, but responded to both with immediate strong showings. He has a quick/strong bat and he’s going to be around for a while, I just would love for those numbers to be at 2B cause our IF would be set for 3 years and all our top hitting prospects on the way are OF’ers.

Wonder if they can't/won't re-sign Darvish, would they take a look at giving CC Sabathia a short term contract. CC wanted LAD to step up and pull him in when he was a free agent the last time. Could see him wanting to wrap up his career at home on the west coast

If I’m not mistaken, he’s from the Bay Area, which is why I think he is a Giant next season.

    Thought he was from Oakland.

Anyway, I don’t think he’s in the cards for the Dodgers especially at his age.

Yeah he's from the bay, but he wanted to be a Dodger when he was a free agent last time.
I think he returns to NYY before he joins a last place Giants team.
The thought behind LAD/Sabathia is his interest the last time + the opportunity to win another WS

Last time was because we were an ace away from likely being a monster and he wanted to hit, but our cheap ass owner wouldn't come through even when Sabathia said he would take less money to come to LA. I think now there is not a place for him out of Spring unless there is an injury. Already got Kersh, Hill, Wood, Maeda, McCarthy, Kazmir, Urias, Buehler, Stewart and Oaks for 2018. Would guess if they spend money on a pitcher, it is for a guy that would be a #2 behind Kersh and ahead of Hill. Don't think they want another guy who has averaged 135 innings the last 4 seasons and will be 38 halfway through the season.

i view those mccourt years as lost seasons
in addition to cc, we (purportedly) could have also had vlad guerrero
whatever... not like we would have won it all any of those years...
and in a weird way, i'm almost glad we didn't in retrospect
fuck the mccourts, no way they deserved any tie to la and championships

That's why I was saying if they were willing to shell out for Darvish and missed, falling back on another proven, big game type of starter that'd be so much cheaper. But the age thing with CC could factor in, even though he still looks solid enough to be that big game pitcher. Although, I wouldn't necessarily see it as another old guy, but moreso hedging their bet that Hill can maintain moving forward. Then we also know they have eyes on Otani, so it looks like they're at least tossing around the idea of moving some things around to make room for others. Some of those guys could be moved..it's not like McCarthy and Kazmir are totally necessary. If CC were to take a hell of a haircut in salary to play where he once wanted, for another WS ring..maybe the value would be too great to pass on since they're all in at this point and CC still looks plenty capable in October? I don't wanna put it past them..he's been a fan fave wherever he's been as well and they could be extra careful with him using the new 10 day DL they've been using so masterfully. But yeah, at the same time it's a cloudy picture due to all the depth and moving parts, so you make a great point there
