Drew was drafted #2 overall by the Phils. Borass asked for a $10 mil bonus. He didn't sign, played indy ball, then went back into the draft the next year and was taken #5 by the Cards and signed for $8.5 mil.

I think Mouse was talking about after 2006 when Drews had his best season and then Boras tried to parlay that into a HUGE contract but only got a $3MM raise out of the RSox.

Boras must be like when you're the mob...once you're in, you can't get out?
Harper firing Boras would be monumentally fantastic...

I actually was talking about him sitting out and not signing with the Phillies, like fsudog said.

But Boras always pushes the limit, and he's not always right. The problem is we saw an explosion in player salaries from the late 90's to now. I think it was fueled first by the steroid era where you could expect production from a guy through the age of 40, then it was fueled by the power of TV contracts, but all that has hit a wall now and it's likely we will see player salaries level off for a while. There's really nothing to push the acceleration like there once was. Boras is still basing expectations on the unsustainable growth numbers of the past and it looks like he out-kicked his coverage on this one.

It was funny, Morosi came out and said that he heard that the Giants were expecting to announce another OF acquisition soon after this one and indicated it could be Harper. Then someone else tweeted that the Giants were in discussions for Cameron Maybin to be a backup if Duggar is not ready. Nobody has a fucking clue what is going on with Bryce or Manny or Kimbrel or Keuchel. Something tells me that Manny will not end up with the White Sox(who are supposedly saving a locker for him between Jay and Alonso) and Harper will not end up with the Phillies. It always seems like in recent years that the team getting the most attention, is the one that doesn't end up with the prize.

Whenever he makes grand proclamations, they always seem to blow up in his face. No fucking way the Nats are out on Harper. They have a shit ton of money off the books next year and an opening for him to eventually move to 1B. They are not going to just let their baby go without some sort of fight at the end. Also, though I am not confident, I won't rule out the Dodgers just cause they have been crazy with money, more so than people give them credit for.

Though I know many on here don't give a shit, PECOTA rankings are out and the Dodgers are projected to have the best record in the NL at 93-69, 9 games over the Rockies. Not to mention the best adjusted offense and pitching in the NL. Which is not a total surprise since the NL is pretty meh this year.

PECOTA projections tend to be on the conservative side, yet we've been projected 95-98 wins several times it seems over the past 6 seasons. So 93 seems meh, especially with the 100+ win world champion prerequisite that seems to have taken hold.

I think the club is pretty hard to project this year due to Barnes having that off year, where will Muncy end up, what kind of bounceback will we see from Taylor and Bellinger, etc... There are more inconsistent variables than in years past and a lot of what they are pulling from gets weighted against some small sample sizes. I would guess that they are being very conservative with our projections due to this as I have seen some rough projections for guys like Muncy, Taylor, Barnes, Verdugo and Bellinger. Hopefully those guys overcome those projections. If things click, this could certainly be a dangerous team, they just need those things to click!

Rangers pitcher Shawn Kelley on where Bryce Harper will end up: "No idea. Talked to him the other day and he said it’s actually slower than you guys think it is."

    Good god....
