That smells like BBQ horse butthole of a trade

 

Dumb trade for 1 year. This is Gammons the Red Sox fluffler we’re talking about though.

 

Rumor is that the Padres are still very much involved in the Betts hunt. There is a feeling that they’re still behind the Dodgers in current offers, but they’re a Luis Patino away from leap frogging us.

Agree. I’d rather the Padres have one year of Betts than 6 years of Patino.

 

If that’s how they get him, I’ll be fine with it. If it’s cause a 20 year old catcher just had a breakout year in the Cal League, I’m gonna be pissed. The other pieces in the offer are fucking joke.

 

I don't watch it/ him regularly at all, but this weekend I heard two things about the Dodgers I found really difficult to wrap my head around.
One was the saliva spreading machine, Chris Russo, saying he is getting " very tired " of the Dodgers moaning about the Astros cheating...an d here I thought they were remarkably mute over it all. The silence was deafening, not to mention annoying.
The other was Brian Kenney with his list of ten best pitchers of all time. His list did not even have Sandy Koufax on it! I totally agreed with him in his inclusion of Bob Feller and Warren Spahn missing their apex years because they were in combat. Down with those two and reasoning all the way.
Now everyone is entitled to their opinion, but these guys get paid beaucoup bucks to lead the peanut gallery at least well informed down the yellow brick baseball road.
I just can't fathom leaving Kufu off a list of ten greatest pitchers.

 

Rosenthal this morning saying he expects the Betts thing done by tomorrow at the latest. A lot of momentum picked up through the weekend. He says the Dodgers are still in the lead according to his sources, but the Padres have the pieces to overpower the Dodgers and make a deal work if they get desperate enough. The Dodgers offer “the cleanest” deal, but the prospect haul the Padres could offer would be very enticing even with Myers coming back.

Nightengale is saying the Dodgers are closest, but they’re haggling over financials in a deal that would include Price. This is the same thing that the Houston guy said the other day, so now we know that it is bullshit since Nightengale is the only one saying the same thing.

 

Chris Russo is a giants fan. So he embraces cheating and loathes anything in Blue. I agree with you, the Dodgers have been relatively quiet about the whole thing, only expressing minor frustration when asked about it. But goddamn, if you can't moan over a team CHEATING you out of a World Series, then what the fuck can you moan about?

 

Like @BlueMouse said, he's a BIG Giants fan and he has admitted on his show that he loves to ruffle Dodgers fans feathers. I never watch the guy on purpose, but the few times I have caught it, he rips the Dodgers so take anything he says with a grain of salt. I heard a rant of his the other day before changing the station about how Dodgers fans calling for the championship to be forfeited was pathetic. This was before the LA City Council pulled that shitty thing, but he followed it up by a "if the Dodgers would have played the Yankees instead, the Yankees would have destroyed them in 4 or 5!"

Color me pathetic then. I absolutely feel the WS ( and possibly Boston's, too...we'll see) should be forfeited...not given to the opponents, mind you, but left a blank. So when kids in the future say" what happened in '17 and '18" ?
So forever, bb fans, in whatever form they are, know that you can't cheat like they did. Nope.
And if the LAD want a WS championship, then they have to earn it on the field, not by default, like the runner up in the Miss America pageant when they find out the real winner likes flatpeter and does meth every weekend.
How can they say the Astros ( maybe Rsox, too) earned it fair and square?

 

The calls for it to be handed to us are pretty pathetic. Like it has been pointed out, the Yankees also took the Astros to 7 before losing, so they could have given us just as much trouble. I remember hoping that we got the Astros instead of the Yankees since they were young and not nearly as deep as us, then they outperformed what I thought they could do and shocked our team that had rolled through the first two rounds that year. 2017 should have no champion, 2018 is still up for debate until the investigation is completed.

 

I know I am being a total pessimist, but I've been mentally preparing to look at twitter and see "Padres get Betts" and the subsequent "Welp..." tweets that will transpire from all the Dodgers fans I follow for a week now.

 

He also HATES the Dodgers for the Kemp/Grandal trade. They made him look like an idiot with the way he handled it and how it turned out for the franchise. I have a buddy that is close to him, told me how he is ultra-competitive, does a TON of coke and hates the team a little up north. I don't think his moves are very calculated and he's a skeezy guy to boot. My worry is that Bloom has not done a deal with him before, if you remember the last FO in Boston said that they would never trust doing a deal with Preller again.

 

Kevin Acee with the San Diego Tribune is also saying that the Betts situation is nearing the finish line with an announcement coming today or tomorrow. Padres are still very much in it. He thinks if there is a leader, it's the Dodgers, but I think it is anyone's guess at this moment.
