larry carlton played for them a lot on studio recordings so did guys like stanley clark and steve lukather but that becker and fagan sounds were unique and near impossible to replicate kinda like trying to play like brian may... just not gonna happen
fucking junkies hard to even think of a band you can compare to the dan no question ive seen them live maybe 5 times since they made the 90s return first one at the hollywood bowl people were openly crying and it was incredible the others weren't that good and seemed like they were doing a job and the last i saw two shows in 3 days one was w carlton and the played the entire royal scam plus second was full aja plus and i don't think it could have been any more perfect oh i didn't pay for the tickets since my friend was working at the then and now defunct universal
want to say royal scam was my fav album but then i remember can't buy a thrill and pretzel logic kinda like trying to pick a fav bowie album... you just can't
all of those meant to be played top volume alone in the car the absolute perfection of that music is legend and acerbic ny sarcasm of the lyrics man so many gems hidden amongst the hits too daddy don't live in that ny city no more, all the things you did fuck just unreal music when i bought my first cd player i bought can't buy a thrill for my first cd
Heading to Chicago this Thursday for a weekend wedding of a close friend's son. We've got tix for the Friday night Cubs-Brewers game. Anyone know the best places to grab a meal and a drink or two before the game? How about places for music in the evening (blues/rock). Not coming back until Tues, so was also wondering about some "must do's" in the area.
I've never been a Mac guy either. I was a graphic designer out of college in 2000 and Macs were the industry standard. I had a new Mac G4 at my first job and I crashed it 2-3 times per week. No one could get the Mac connected to the company network (even though it was a tech company, so literally everyone there was an IT guy). I came away not even a little impressed. All my jobs after used PC's and personally I used PC's until last year, completely out of the Mac game. Then last year I bought a used 2012 MacBook Pro for $1000 just so I could do iPhone app development. It runs circles around my Dell laptops, and it's honestly the best computer I have ever owned. It just runs better, faster. The Dells always seem to be updating something in the background, are sluggish, and Windows is on a lifelong self discovery trip. Little things with the Mac hardware are better too, like the touchpad is better, the keyboard is backlit, the battery is better, and the magnetic charger plug is slick. If you are dead set on a Dell PC, I won't stop you. Trust me, no one is more surprised that I am recommending Mac laptops than myself. Either way, make sure to get an SSD hard drive.
Heck I must have been part of the 'wrong' user group because I thought my 'edit' window timed out in something like 30 seconds. Teach me to argue with fetid overbearing text editing Mods again
Too much $$ wasted gaining this experience but I agree on most everything Techie mechanical engineer who used Macs early and then fell out of love as they were more trouble than they are worth I've purchased at least 10 Dell PC's and 5-6 Dell laptops and all suffer from the Windoze issues My adult son and daughter both have Mac Book Pro's and LOVE them. They ALWAYS work. They avoid virus's. They are fast as shit and the SSD drives are the win. Now I run Solidworks 3D CAD on my big PC but it's getting older and groaning as the software always asks for more HP each release My professor suggested using a Mac with a DOC/Windozes partition to run Solidworks saying that the Macs run this huge program better, crash less and are more reliable overall. In 5-6 years neither kids has had a single issue with their Mac Book Pro's, a remark that I cannot share about PC's Wife got fed up two years ago and bought herself one of those huge 27" screen iMac's.. and she hardly knows how to use it but loves it. LOL.
very cool instrumental w the obvious gilmore nod but maybe more vai overall? enjoyed it but found myself staring at the original artwork a lot
Nice track, yeah I too can hear some stray Floyd riff influences but this was nice. Serene and tranquil though with energy... I'll look him up on YouTube to hear more I'm sure you did buddy, I'm sure you did. It's a bit early in the day for that sort of stare... LOL however you posted at 11PM last night so.. move along, nothing to see here, move along now... enjoy the zen
Turning away from the baseball excellence we have all been witnessing these many days, I might suggest a damn good film to clear your head out...that I'm pretty sure sill be gone soon, since it has no superheroes or martial arts in it, and not much advertising at all. "Wind River" a murder mystery that takes place on that reservation in Wyoming. Jeremy Renner, with his usual top-shelf performance, and a professional cast, make this glimpse of modern day Indian life on the reserves fascinating, and very concerning. The cinematography is truly beautiful. The story is not, although gripping. Check it out if it's around. That is, if you can tear yourself away from Logan, Curtis, Kike, and Yasmani, etc.
most of us are committed in the same way a snitch bundled up w rope and blocks is committed to hitting the bottom of the ocean
Lemme help you out with a couple more that are very different from each other but equally incredible.
First one sounds like if STP would have come out 10 years ago instead of in the late 80s early 90s and decided to 'reinvent' themselves like STP did at one point and produced this type of music. The second one I only liked the cool instrumental bits and the atmospheric sounds backing the main performers. But I liked them a lot for their familiarity of music that I have liked before. The singer seemed the worse guy, but it may have been bad live mixing i dunno.
