    The ages surprised me.

I know we had some young guys but I seriously figured most were 30's-40's.

Probably, the wide diversity of ages is one of the stronger points of this particular website.
just as long as the "he's too fucking old and senile to know what he's talking about" or "he's just a fucking young little snot who don't know shit yet" kind of attitude doesn't prevail.
In my time, there has really been a minimum of all that, and that is a strength we have here.
Take it from me, who knows more than any of you young guys...

    You're talkin' codgers vs. whelps.

Welcome to my last two forums.

(And now you know how I became known as 'Codge'.

    was that you?

About the earliest I remember (timeline recall is one of my worst skills) being on espn is about 2001. My handle then was the same as now, but after some time had passed I changed it to "TheCodginator" (take off on the Terminator) and people began to call me "Codge" or "the Codge". I eventually went back to being 'cbd' but Codge stuck. We were always calling various posters either 'codgers' or 'whelps' or 'whippersnappers'.

Did you frequent the Dodger forum then? What was your handle? My signature line is homage to a former espn Dodger poster called 'DfaninWisc.'

    timeline sounds about right
i'd go by there occasionally but most of the posters were dicks
if you weren't part of their "clique" they treated you like you were beneath them
i do remember a cool guy named slewfoot i got along with
but there were a couple of douches i recall; burnam, reserve level...

Haha, the truth will out. Slewfoot was a great guy. He was actually a former Dodger scout and knew his old school baseball. Up until this past season he was a part of the 'clique' (actually most of the clique didn't play fantasy) fantasy baseball, basketball, and NASCAR leagues. I fear that either his health is very bad or that he has passed because we haven't heard from him. Burnam is still around, I see him as a douche only in the sense that he is beyond nerdy. He means well. Reserve level has given up the message board scene. A portion of that regular crowd is still together at another forum that I frequent now as 'read only'.

I was probably one the 'dicks' that treated newcomers with disdain. The motto then was 'check your feelings at the door'. If you posted something then you better be ready to be called on it. That group had no problem dishing out idiot tags and troll beating was an Olympic sport.

    Your handle?

I'm not sure what's worse. The fact that the news is so slow this topic is four pages long or that I actually read it. :tumbleweed:

    bummer about slew
he actually new my college coach (also a former scout), a guy named phil pote
    he was always cool
and (sorry to disappoint) but so were you
burnam liked to point out that he was a teacher, as if it gave him extra credibility. he wasn't really a douche, just self-righteous
reserve and a couple others in his posse (i can't recall by name) just seemed like dicks
but hell, we're all dicks here so i guess i'm being a bit hypocritical
i honestly cannot recall my handle there
not sure if it had irish in it, but probably
but i doubt you'd remember me; i wasn't a very prominent poster there

Irish, have you always been "Irish" here?
I know we've been through a bout 32 iterations of DSP. I was wondering if you had a different handle in the very early days here.
