Same agent as Weddle, both went to Utah, wonder if Raiders are working on both.
Wouldn't surprise me, not after the Bruce Irving shocker, there wasn't anything reported on that one.
They may run some signings off after Smith is signed, all in a row

There is a common myth that Osweiler is good. He's a below average QB. Kap is a better below average QB

I’m hearing the #Chiefs are making a strong push to retain Sean Smith.

It ain't over til it's over. Chiefs have already retained Hali, Berry, and now Derrick Johnson and Jaye Howard.

    Kap is done dude

Osweiler may turn out to suck, but he definitely has more upside.

don't agree at all. Kap is still only 28. Chip can get something out of him.

I feel like it is dragging out too long though. Seems like something should have happened like yesterday

You can keep saying that all you want, doesn't make it true.
It's only been said around the clock on NFL Network today, execs around the league covet Osweiler more.
And mind you, Osweiler's not special...Kaepernick is just that poor a QB and person in regards to a leadership position.
He can't do anything outside of a zone read system and he's shaky there as well, he quit on his teammates, he's into being a celeb QB, and he's lazy.
He also turns 29 this season, which is old for a QB that relies on mobility and also too old to think he's going to change.
He's been in the league 5 years now, still can't make more than 1 and a half, 2 reads every play, he's rubbish.

If people covet Osweiler then why we're only 2 teams interested in him? And why didn't Elway do whatever it takes to keep him? Elway knows what he is doing, mark my words. Kap throwing to Sanders and Demaryius would look better than throwing to and old as dirt Boldin and Torrey

Yeah, I have no clue which direction he's leaning. I've heard varying reports saying all of KC, OAK, SF being the leaders for his services.
Have a bad feeling he ends up back in KC. But please come to Oakland.

Either way, Denver proved they can win with below average QB play. Peyton was atrocious in the regular season and SB. I'm glad they lost Brock, but I'm not doing cartwheels.

Again, Osweiler is coveted more than Kaepernick, there's a difference.
By way of being 25yrs old, not being a dick, not being a 2 read QB, and not being lazy, that's pretty much all it took for Osweiler to get nods over Kaepernick.
Also, there aren't a ton of QB jobs that are open in general.
Elway cut probably his best or 2nd best O-lineman, is restructuring other guys, Broncos are in cap hell and it wouldn't matter anyway because Osweiler is still pissed about being benched and he like Houston's system more than he likes Kubiak's.
You know there was around the clock coverage on this today, right?
Believe whatever you want, you're clearly on one, playing Madden too much, Kaep is garbage.

Raiders play a Cover 3 shell D, so Smith really isn't the best fit for what they do, Jenkins was a better fit and they were on Jenkins before the Giants just threw the mother-load at him.
But Reggie is a big fan of Smith's too and he's obviously just the best/most reliable CB available at this point.
Not the end of the world tho if he doesn't pick the Raiders, Smith opens next season at 29yrs old, so he's not a long term fix, would have to be extremely happy if he's still solid in year 3 of the deal.
Raiders can still find some answers if Smith goes elsewhere, Amukamara would probably be just as coveted if he hadn't missed so many games because he's above average when he's out there and he's 26yrs old, and then Hayward is really good in the slot.

They could go Amerson outside, Hayward in the slot, and Carrie on the other side and that's still pretty good, might have to land more than 1 safety if Carrie is back at CB tho.
Or maybe they'd draft the best CB available at 14 and keep Carrie at safety?
Or maybe they'd sign both Amukamara and Hayward?
Don't know, don't think Irvin and these other Raiders following Smith is insignificant tho, would seem to be something there.
