Yep even bigger than A-Roids second deal with the jankees. $30.7 Milllllllllion dollars. That'll buy a lot of mosquito nets.
:moshpit: Great news! I was horrified that there was even slightest possibility of seeing him in pinstripes or some such east coast american league fag-wear. Now that's not likely to happen, at least for many, many years, if ever.
I always wondered if he even cared about moving back to Texas. He spends his winters in Africa anyways. I figured he'd go for the most money. Not because he's selfish but because he'll have more wealth to spread with his charitable work. Either way, glad it's over. I kept telling friends not to worry but to be honest for the last month or so it's been bothering me for sure. And this stoner smiley is all wrong. He's burning his lips. Amateurs.
^Well, he's got a mouthful of burned weed. I think I'd probably take the car keys away from him at this point.
Well, it's over. The great Don Mattingly is signed now , too, so there is no excuses any more. Nothing hanging over our heads, nothing to distract the team from what it FINALLY should do. The excuses are fucking over. Nothing accept the new Pablo Sandoval. And Trumbo. And Donnie making seven moves late in the game. But my favorite player of all time, Brian Wilson may help that cease quite a bit. Oh, and second and maybe third base. And AJ and the all-time passed ball record. Nah...it's all BS....our journey and fate awaits. All we have to do is go out there and do it.
BTW, I think this is a pretty good price; that may sound dopey, but I thought he would get quite a bit more than 215. It's not billion is it? If it is, then, I think we overpaid. A little.
I was actually happy they kept the years to 7. The talk of 10 years for a pitcher was worrying me a bit. Yes, I want him tied to the Dodgers forever but how many times do long term deals work for pitchers?
long term deals rarely work... someone always gets screwed... Clayton is our #1 stud pitcher and I'm glad he got what he did, he's a good kid mostly...
Just curious. If Kershaw continues to be Kershaw for the next 5 years then opts out. Does he then demand that 10 year 300m contract at age 30?
If he does, we decline and offer more a modest one. If he continues to be Kershaw, he needs to enter the hall as a Dodger.
Has anyone ever spent 10+ years with a team but entered the hall under a different cap? We may have already locked up his Hall of Fame cap as of today. Doesn't matter, that's for us to worry about in 5 years.
I have not a clue. I thought about Piazza but he was with us for 6. It felt like more for some reason.
Because he was awesome to watch. Loved that swing. He's who I immediately thought of too but I knew it wasn't 10 years.
Just great news. We have him locked up through his prime(assuming he doesn't opt out), and aren't stuck with the risk of a 10 year contract Awesome job
