who are the "they" you refer to? i see guys like cruz and sellers continually swinging at first pitches ethier did it the other day flying out to lf with two on kemp routinely flails at pitches early in the count other than aj, hairston and punto i haven't seen guys working the count on a consistent basis
Kemp is a unique case in that the book know he's lame from surgery so pitchers plow perfect fastballs down the middle on pitch 1 because they know they can. And they are successful. Once Kemp does work up the nerve to swing at a pitch his swing looks positively lackadaisical... like he could barely be bothered so OK I guess I have to swing so hear goes something safe way outside. Kemp even when he times one right for a hit has yet to "rip" a pitch like he should be able to. If that is what Gonzo was speculating about he may be on the mark for both. Kemp has now turned into a Carew or Gwynn who can't go deep without the stars aligning. By way of illustration Puig "rips" pitches. Hard. He may look the fool when he misses but when he connects it's gonna be a missile somewhere. That is what we need and dearly. And it's not going to come from Matt Kemp in 2013.
I had to look to believe it... .293 you're right. But with a slugging % of .573!! OPS of .935 which exceeds every other Dodger outfielder And even those stats are after he's dropped to miserable .179 in the last 10 games.
at AA... not sure that will translate to the big leagues... actually Penderson has been raking at AA... if only one of them could play 3B!!!
So what would you guys rather have Donnie do? They rank 28th in the league in 2b, RBI, R, 27th in HR 29th in slg They are middle if the pack in BA and the only thing I can say they do well is talk a walk and not strike out. The problem is systemic failure of over 200 million dollars. Some want to see him yell and scream but this is a team that rolled over vs the padres and got swept at home just days after the Greinke incident. It's a team of quitters that the dodger FO should have never acquired. As I see it the only thing Donnie can do to improve this shit show is tell his guys not to swing or pencil himself into the lineup.
Yup cause the guys we acquired is what is wrong with this team. Have a clue about what you're talking about before you act like a douche. Crawford and Gonzo are easily our 2 best hitters thus far, Punto easily our best bench player, and Beckett sucks. Hanley is injured and we got him for basically nothing. Yea I'm really regretting those moves. Those moves are the only thing keeping us from being a 2 win team right now.
Last place is last place whether you have 2 wins or 13. However the salary obligation and roster spots are taken. Both of those are content with losing, it's all agon knows and Crawford is so over rated its a a joke. I'm glad you're proud to call them your best hitters. High average with nothing else is all they are, it doesn't take much to be the best the dodgers have. Ryu has the 6th highest batting average.
yeah Carl Crawford and Adrian are making Matt Kemp suck with their voodoo and loving to lose vibes. Also, so unreal how the Tampa Bay Rays made it to the world series in 2008, and won the east in '08 and 2010 with such a "content with losing" top hitter in Carl Crawford How did the Padres win the west in 2006 (Adrians first year at San Diego) with the obstacle of having a guy who loves losing. I agree with you that what can Donnie do, but to blame the team struggling on the guys who are actually doing well just cause you dislike they didn't have super human powers in making the Red Sox great in their time there and you like to believe they love losing, is wack
Yea no fucking shit last place is last place but with 2 wins we'd already be out of this season, at least we still have a chance to turn this around. O no, salary nooooooooooo ZOMG!!!!!!! If I'm not mistaken (can be) we have something like 60M a year coming off the books over the next 2 years. I think it is plain to see Guggs has more money than you can comprehend as well. Where did I say I'm proud that they have been our best hitters so far? Where? Please show me you fucking idiot. I'd love to see it. "The next time you have a thought, let it go." - Ron White.
Fair enough guys, I'll let it go. I guess only dodgers fans are allowed to speak about how they suck. The rest of us will just talk about the emperors new clothes and how this all mattingly's fault.
Well, I like his new clothes. And you were wrong in what you said about what Dodgers are sucking or killing us. Anyone on these boards would tell you who the best players are on the team this season...it's obviously Crawford, AGon, and Punto. That's not bullshit...you can look it up. AGon has 22% of the Dodgers RBIs. That's the highest ratio in baseball for any team/player. Doesn't mean he's superman, it could be that the rest of the team is choking on donkey dick, or it means both. Either way, he's been the best on the team in the biggest problem we've had. He's the only guy doing his job of driving runners in from scoring position. It's obvious you got a hard boner for the BOS cast off club...it's present in every post, but realize that noone on these boards will agree with you blaming the woes on them because it's obviously not the problem from a statistical test as well as the old eye test. Calling them perenial losers is also not accurate as someone pointed out above.
One thing all of you Mattingly haters that want him fired need to realize. There is no gurrantee this team does better with another manager. And I promise you, whomever the manager is, you guys will always second guess him when things get rough. If you want proof of this, go read the Giants GT or any other team's that you think the manager is a genius. Fans will always complain and disagree and monday morning quarterback. Don is not as bad as Torre/Little/Johnson/Tracy/etc. He is not the problem, it's the fucking players that turn into idiots when a baserunner reaches second base.
Not really about Don and his terrible moves. Guugenheim hasn't made their stamp on the team, and they deserve to. They were very generous giving all the Mccourt hires a chance to prove their worth. A lot of new owners would clean house.
Although I'm obviously not on the fire Don mattingly bandwagon yet, I'm not nieve that there is a good chance of this actually happening sometime in the future. I've predicted the AS break if the team is still floundering. What I'd like to know is this. Who would you chose to replace him. You have to name someone realistically available at this time. Tim Wallach, Davey Lopes, Mickey Hatcher, Kevin Kennedy, Mike Sciosia, Tony LaRussa, Ozzie Guillen, Bobby Valentine are guys I imagine can be had in the near future. Any more? My vote would be for Kevin Kennedy at this time, although I don't think any manager can save this team from itself.
You don't have to choose from that list, if you can think of another guy that is posibly available that's not listed, be my guest. that list was just the handful I could think of real quick. You can pick Bobby Cox if you'd think the money machine can lure him out of retirement.
