The bunting is used properly at times IMO. But the above example was just bad managing. You can't take the bat out of the most capable hands your team has to offer, especially when "capable hands" are not too common on your team.
Dude ... No quibbling, whatever it is this month... $215M... $210M.. It's still too much for such anemic batting
we are currently 1/2 game out of last place even with all the injuries, there is no way we should be this bad if we fall into last place -- for even one day -- mattingly should be fired

from rosendouche so fwiw... Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com believes Angels manager Mike Scioscia needs a fresh start and proposes the Dodgers as the most obvious possibility. Rosenthal notes owner Artie Moreno would recoil at the idea of Scioscia managing the crosstown rivals, but the Angels would be better for it if they could obtain a significant player or two in a John Farrell-style trade.
One of the things I like best about the Angels is that Scioscia is a strong manager who learned the game on the field. Not that all managers don't have brain farts but overall Scioscia has kept a flighty team well grounded. The Angel front office (DiPoto?) getting rid of so many pitchers was insanely stupid but overall Scioscia is better than average. I'd hate to see him go to the Dodgers because it would be a death knell for the Angels but the Dodgers would definitely see an improvement over DBB...
