Yeah, those sample sizes are small for the most part The offense scored 2 runs. I don't know if Greinke + bullpen would have held them to less then 2. And if we lose that game, we are in a much shittier position than we are right now. Point is: The offense coulda and shoulda won us that game last night. If the offense woulda scored 5 runs and we lost cause of a Nolasco blow up, we'd have to second guess the living shit out of the decision. Nolasco, Kershaw, Greinke each had to pitch if we are going to win this thing. Best case scenario was Nolasco/Greinke at home, Kershaw on the road and Greinke/Kershaw on more than 3 days rest and Nolasco vs. their worst starter.
no what nolasco did was suck like he always has against the cards i'll take greinke's small sample size as you call it over nolasco's long earned failure every time
AND we'd still need a win out of Nolasco, maybe in St Lo and vs. a better pitcher than Lynn? Yeah, much better odds. agree to disagree. good. meet for for a fight.
If Hanley can't go on early in the game, our lineup is going to be fucked up again. I expect Young at SS batting 3rd by the 3rd or 4th inning. I hope I'm wrong but he really looked horrible last night.
While I agree that losing yesterday puts us in a HUGH hole, I do not think we can blame that loss on Nolasco. He made one mistake to Holiday, that's all. Dodgers can't hit their way out of a fucking paper bag. 4 games and we've only scored 3 runs once!!! I'm surprised that no one has said anything about Nolasco being allowed to hit in the 2nd with the bases loaded??? Fucking DBB should pinch hit him, right???
Theoretically, if we won yesterday using Greinke on short rest. Again, IF we won...still not likely the way we hit(didn't hit). I'm not thinking the situation would be much better. 1)We'd have CK today on short rest? Then on to STL for 2 with Nolasco in game 6 and Ryu in game 7. Must win 2 of 3. 2)We'd have Nolasco today, and in STL on normal rest-CK and then Ryu. (This was the best option IMO...but only IF we won the Greinke game....again big IF). If Greinke lost, we'd be royally fucked IMO. Must win 2-3. Instead we have Greinke, CK, and Ryu on normal rest from here on out. Must win 3 in a row. The other overlooked problem would be the pen. If Greinke pitched last night on short rest, how many innings could he go? 5? 6? I'd guess 5 considering his 4.5 avg on 3day rest, so the pen has to go 4 at least. Then going into today, Nolasco goes 4-5, and the already tired pen goes 4 more innings minimum. We've played 3 games in a row. That's risky IMO.
