    if its about the fans being douches
    it stemmed from a freak play that gave texas a [very brief] lead
    martin was throwing the ball back to the pitcher and it ricocheted off shoo's bat
    odor [on 3rd] came rushing home
    toronto wanted interference or a dead ball call
    the umps [apparently rightly so] ruled the ball in play
    the toronto fans then began throwing all sorts of shit onto the field

    The Puig thing was out of hand. The real problem was this kid coming over from Cuba and making the game look too damn easy - which is what he was doing when he first came up. People had to find something wrong with him.

    Ahh... so that was the reason for the delay? The fans also threw shit on the field after Bautista's HR. I think they just like throwing shit on fields. Fuck Canada.

    But if it was against us, I'd absolutely expect the next time he came up, our pitcher to Maglie him. If he did that to Double D, he'd be choking on dirt real quick...that's entertaining, too!!
    Even more than some faggotty bat flip...for me anyway. The way he did it was femme, I thought.

    Yeah, I guess so. It seems like no one mentioned it or whatever, but the present day Dodgers do not retaliate, so we invite abuse with our new milquetoast traditions.
    I got kind of disgusted during that game, so wasn't glued to the TV.

    I get both sides.
    The bat flip is okay because it is emotion in an otherwise mellow game. It's good to see enthusiasm and not robots.

    BZ talking about Drysdale makes sense too. Ballplayers of old were tough, rugged, no nonsense men. Which is cool too. The flamboyant things modern players do would make most of them look pretty gay back then.

    Yes, sure times change and so do habits and the way people express themselves...but first and foremost, you have to respect the game and not disrespect your opponent.
    The classiest guy on that field today was Hamels, who in spite of dismally inept support that turned three routine plays into a loss instead of a 1,2,3 inning, just left the field when removed and took it like a man.
    That impressed me more than any fucking egomaniacal turd flipping a bat like Bautista did.
